Got a call from this number on 17th October at about 12:10. I picked up and as soon as the person said 'hello', I replied straightaway with 'HELLO THIS IS GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE CALL TRACING, HOW CAN I ASSIST YOU?' The caller hung up right away. You can make up your own mind about how genuine or honest these calls are.

Got a call from some folks pushing service contracts. They already had all my info and were trying to sell me a 2-year warranty for white goods, but said I had to pay the full amount upfront. Asked for my credit card details straight away. I requested a copy of the contract to read through first, but they couldn’t provide one. Feels dodgy to me, might be a scam. Told them I'm registered with the TPS and that they shouldn’t be ringing me. Usually that’s enough to put scammers off but this bloke just carried on, then handed me over to his manager. I got a call from a woman who said her name was Mary and she was really pushy about lowering my monthly heating bill. I made it clear I wanted to stick with British Gas, but she insisted that her firm followed all the same rules as British Gas. She was convinced she was doing me a favour by saving me cash and just wouldn't accept a refusal. The only way to stop her was to just put the phone down.

My wife, who’s got dementia, answered the phone earlier and I just managed to grab the receiver before the caller finished. I didn’t quite catch who she claimed to be, but the gist was something about my boiler and heating insurance. Then she asked to verify my details first - presumably the kind of info they’d have on file, like bank or card details, which would probably need updating.
