Got a call from a so-called government dept offering to sort out my tax for a marriage allowance refund. Total con and absolute rogues, steer well clear. They somehow managed to get a refund cheque from HM Customs made out to me but ended up keeping over £500 for themselves. Proper daylight robbery.

Got a call saying my Amazon Prime had been hacked and they were gonna take £300 from my linked debit card. The message told me to press 1 to speak to the fraud team.

Haha, just got a call from them too. Here’s a little tip on handling these calls (only if you’ve got time and don’t mind the hassle). Drag the conversation out as long as you can, making up anything but your name, which they probably already have. They ain’t bothered if you hang up, coz they rely on a few poor old folks or naive people to actually pay, so 1 paying person out of 100 hang ups still makes it worth their while. I kept a woman on the line for like 25 minutes, telling her I had loads I wanted to donate to charity haha, she got so annoyed she finally gave up and hung up.

Got a call from this number and then got an email too. It seemed really proper at first. So I checked with HMRC through their official website and made a complaint. The lady on the phone said I had a tax refund, but I told her I don’t work or pay taxes, then I ended the call.

Today, I received a call from a chap with a thick Scottish brogue who claimed I qualified for a tax refund of some sort. Initially, I was quite intrigued by what he had to share, but it didn’t take long to cotton on that I was conversing with a fraudster. This wasn’t anyone from HMRC or any reputable organisation, that’s for certain.
