I’m based in central Scotland and I’ve learned to be careful with scam texts. This message from that number was a total giveaway - they asked me to ring about some payment to a business that I’m pretty sure doesn’t even exist. Even replying to say they've got the wrong person would just confirm to them that my number is real, likely generated by some software, and then I’d risk getting more calls. Best to be smart about it - just delete and report straight away!

Total scam! They claimed they could slash 40% off my O2 bill. I played along for a bit, but then told them I knew they were con artists. Next thing, they rang me back from a different number, asking how I found out they weren’t actually from O2. I replied that they didn’t even know my name and weren’t genuine O2 staff. They kept insisting that I was wrong! Then when I asked where they were based, they said London and gave some dodgy postcode that was clearly made up. After that, they passed me on to their “manager” who kept questioning how I knew the truth. I ended by telling them to have a think about what they’re doing and to stop this awful scam!

Got constant calls from 0113 310 0131, a Leeds number, supposedly from Carphone Warehouse. Kept telling them to take my number off their list but nothing changed. When I finally spoke to a guy, he got really rude and started losing his temper. I explained the laughing voice in the background was my 13-year-old little sister, but he then began making really nasty, inappropriate comments towards her. I couldn’t believe it and just ended the call. I’ve blocked the number now and have also informed the police about the whole situation.

Got a call from Carphone Warehouse, but just told them I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Looks like a bit of a scam to me.
