Some bloke called 'Michael' from O2 rang me askin if I got a text with a reference number sayin I qualified for 45% off my line rental. He couldn't even tell which account he was talkin about properly, so I sussed it was a scam. Didn't wanna waste time with him, just hung up, blocked and reported the number.

Got a text on my phone saying it's from 02 about the broadband, but didn't reply 'cos the number looked dodgy and prob a scam.

Spoke with a woman who had a strong accent, definitely not from around Yorkshire. I couldn't really catch much of what she was saying, apart from the words "BT" (which I don't even use) and "your broadband connection". After a while I lost interest, left the room, and came back later to hang up. Tagged it as "dangerous" since it could easily fool someone.

Right, in case anyone's confused - let me explain how this con works. First, they ring you up pretending to be from O2. Then, they send a text message to your phone and ask you to read out the 6-digit code it contains. The moment you give them that code, they've already pulled off their scam. I had a bit of fun winding them up but seriously, watch out and stay safe, everyone!

Got a call yesterday from a Leeds number that looked familiar, so I picked up just to see what was going on. Caller said they were from “o2 network” but had a pretty strong Asian accent. They kept banging on about some 30% discount. I asked how that worked, then they passed me to the “discount department” (haha, yeah right). This guy told me I'd get two texts: one for ID verification and another with a code. I asked if he knew my name and he said yes, but said I needed to pass security checks first, so I just ended the call there.

Seems a bit odd to get calls from Leeds and then Sheffield within such a short time, so I'm fairly certain these are fake numbers, probably spoofed by some software.

Got a call from this number that said it was from Leeds, and the guy was trying to sell me a deal that’d beat my phone provider by 30%, without even asking who I was with. Then about 5 minutes later, the same bloke called again, said his name was John, and the number showed up as 01143560006 from Sheffield. I reckon it’s a bit sus, cause getting from Leeds to Sheffield that quick isn’t likely - seems like they’re using fake numbers generated by a computer.

Had a missed call and answered it last week. The woman said she was from O2 and offering 30% off my current bill. I told her I wasn’t able to chat then (which was true). Some woman with a thick Indian accent, said she was calling from Mobile Phone Warehouse. She asked how I was doing, and I told her I was pretty annoyed since I’m on the telephone preference service list and it’s supposed to be illegal to call me.
