Got a call from someone claiming to be with British Gas about renewing my electricity, even though my contract runs till August 2026. Funny thing, the same guy rang last week saying he was from the E-on Next Compliance Team, which as far as I know, doesn't exist! Told him where to go and blocked the number.

Just got a call from Richard Hamilton at EDF energy - never heard this number before but it’s the same bloke using a new name, trying to sell the same deal. Apparently, EDF want to renew our contract. Told him I already spoke to EDF, who said not to deal with callers like him. He just ended the call. This is about the sixth time in a few weeks now, all the same nonsense with different names. He gave up quicker this round; usually, we end up having a proper argument before he drops the line.

Got a call from some guy named Kevin Smith claiming he works for British Gas and said there was a mistake with our address and he needed to check our meter number. I told him I didn’t have it handy and would ring back. He kept pushing to call me back but I said no. Then he gave me a number 01132980900 to ring them on. I phoned British Gas myself and they said it wasn’t them calling. They also warned me not to share the meter number as scammers could use it with our address to switch our supplier without permission.

Got a call from an Asian bloke saying he was from e.on. I asked him for my A/C number, but the one he gave me wasn’t the same as what’s on my bill. Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from British Gas. He claimed they’d read our meter wrong and sent us a bill with the wrong amount ‘cause they used the wrong postcode. Then he asked for our gas meter supply number to fix it (which is odd as we don’t even have gas). I told him to ring back the next day, and he did. Spoke to him again and said I’d check with my accountant. He first called from 01659 745568, then again from 01723724351. Got a call from a guy who sounded Asian, asking for info about my bill. At first, he claimed to be from Scottish Power, so I mentioned who I actually use, and he quickly switched, insisting “I’m 100% calling from (my provider).” That set off alarm bells, so I made up an excuse to end the call. Got a call from someone with an Asian accent asking for the business owner (me). They said they were from EON, claiming it was our current supplier. Got a phone call today from a guy called Jack Henderson, sounded Asian, said he was from British Gas. He told me our electric contract ends in February, which is totally wrong. This has happened like 5 or 6 times over the last few weeks already. When I mentioned the Telephone Preference Service, he just asked what I wanted him to do. I told him to just get off the phone and take my number off their list. Thankfully, he did hang up. What a muppet.

The caller said he was from E-on, who he claimed was my electricity supplier. When I told him I didn’t use E-on, he insisted I was mistaken, saying his name was actually E-on! He was really pushy, and I reckon it could’ve been quite scary if I wasn’t used to this kind of thing!

Said they were from Power Energy Supplier sayin' they got complaints about us bein' overcharged on our bills? They kept ringin' non-stop so I just blocked the number. Total scammers!

Caller with an Indian accent wanted to speak to the manager but just ended up hanging up.

Got a call where they wanted to speak to the owner, sounded like they had an Indian accent, so I just hung up. Then they rang back, I picked up and he kept shouting 'f*** you, f*** you' over and over, so I decided to block the number.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from an energy company. Could hear his pals messing about and laughing in the background. Proper kids trying to scam people. Ridiculous lot.

Someone phoned me claiming to be from EoN, which was obviously a lie. They kept ringing and were really pushy, almost felt like harassment.

Got a call from this number saying they were from SSE!! They wanted info about my meters and said they needed to update their files or something.

Said he was from British Gas "meter readings" - some bloke with a really heavy Indian accent trying to "verify" my info and supply number. Felt as dodgy as a bacon sandwich pretending to be vegetarian. Phoned British Gas on the official number, but they were about as useful as a chocolate teapot, even had to GOOGLE the number I gave 'em, for crying out loud! Pretty sure this was a scam to nick my details and possibly switch my energy supplier without permission.

Someone rang saying they were from British Gas offering deals on electricity. I told them I wasn’t interested as I’d just got my renewal prices the day before. Then they put me through to a 'supervisor' who claimed they had better rates. I asked if he really worked for British Gas and he said he had all my details, so obviously he did. I said I still wasn’t interested, and he told me to f off before hanging up. Nothing to do with British Gas, for sure. It’s such a shame we can’t put an end to these harassment calls with rude people.

Some bloke said he was from British Gas, offering me deals on gas and electric meters I’d just recently replaced. When I called him out on it, he just cut me off.

This number has rang me quite a few times. A bloke said he was from E-on and claimed there’d been some IT issues, so he needed details about our bills and meter numbers. I wasn’t too happy about it and asked him to send it in writing instead, but he just wouldn’t give up. I said I was ending the call but he kept on, so in the end I had to hang up. That was last week, and guess what, they called again today with the same story. From what I’m reading here, if they’re ringing claiming to be from different companies, it honestly sounds dodgy.

Got two calls today - one claiming to be from British Gas, and the same number rang me back about some foreign exchange thing. They were really rude and quite threatening.

Mentioned GDPR and just ended the call. - YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT A LAW THAT WASN’T ACTIVE THEN. 26/04/2018 Said they were British Gas, obviously not. 25/04/2018 Claimed British Gas but clearly wasn’t. - THIS NUMBER IS LISTED ON THE ACTUAL BRITISH GAS SITE. PLEASE VERIFY BEFORE SAYING IT'S A SCAMMER PRETENDING TO BE BRITISH GAS. THERE’S NO EVIDENCE IN YOUR COMMENT TO SUPPORT THAT.

They said they were phoning from EDF, claiming to be my energy provider. I told them that wasn’t true. They insisted I was mistaken and didn’t know who supplied my energy. So I ended the call. Since then they’ve rung me another 3 times, so I demanded to speak with a manager and asked him to remove my details from their list and stop bothering me. He just laughed and said they were only trying to help. Then he said he’d phone me again tomorrow - I warned him if he dared call again I’d report them.

Dodgy callers. Had two rings, first bloke said he was from Western Power. I told him we use Utility Warehouse, he said someone would ring me back. Of course, another caller came through claiming to be from Utility Warehouse and said we was with them. I told that one we went with Plus Net - now I’m expecting a call from 'Plus Net' too. Could go on forever! These lot just want your info. Don’t hand any of it over.
