Got a call from 01132980800 claiming to be British Gas, trying to discuss new electricity tariffs. The guy went on about these so-called ‘new’ prices we'd supposedly be getting. He asked for my name to put me on the new contract, saying that would mean I agreed to it. While he was talking, I could hear voices in the background that sounded like Gujarati. I told him I wasn’t allowed to sign anything, so he asked for the contact details of someone who could. When I brought up GDPR, he just hung up. Definitely a scam.

Im with British Gas as well and got a call from a couple of their reps saying they had some important stuff to tell me about my current contract. I told them to send me all the details in writing, and one bloke promised to do so within 10 working days. I also asked for his name and number to ring back later if needed, which was 01132980800. After having a look here, I didn’t see the point in calling them back at all!

So, I had a call from a couple of lads claiming to be with British Gas, but their info didn’t quite add up. They were trying to get me to set some kind of password and kept asking for the last four digits of my bank account. They said the call was being recorded and promised to send paperwork within 10 working days. They also wanted specifics about my gas and electric bills. They were really insistent and kept calling me ‘ma’am’, which felt off. If you’re unsure, ask them for a phone number and then ring it yourself - I tried and it just doesn't go through.
