Got a phone call from 00491738202271, with someone claiming to be from some 'fraud team' saying I was about to make a big payment. They never said exactly which fraud department they were from, but did give me a number to call back to prove they were legit. I had my doubts straight away and just ended the call.

Got a ring from 00491744632684 today, but I’ve already set my phone to block any numbers beginning with 004, since I don’t know anyone with those codes. If you use a call blocker too, definitely add 004 to your blocked area codes list. From my experience, calls starting with 004 often turn out to be credit card scams. In fact, I’ve noticed most dodgy calls come from numbers starting with 003, 004, 011, 012, 013, 014, 015, 016, 0177, 018, 019, 020, 028, 074, 075, 077, 078, and 079. Had a call from 004917983884448 and straight away I was on guard. Some bloke with an Indian accent said he was ringing about my Sky internet and TV. I told him I wasn’t with Sky (though I actually am), then he just cut the call right away.

I got a call from 0049 17 506 590 090 on Tuesday 09/12/2025 around 10:05am. They didn’t bother to leave a message on my voicemail, so I’m guessing it's just another scam attempt like always!

I got a call from someone named "Kevin" speaking with an Indian accent, saying he wanted to test my internet. As soon as I said everything was fine, he just hung up on me. Pretty clear it was a scam, especially since the number was from Germany 004917954647930.

I got a call from this number 0049 171162798485 on 25th Nov 2025 around 12:52pm. They didn’t bother to leave any message on my voicemail. Sounds like one of those typical scam calls to me!

I got a call from the number 004917880131708 claiming to be from BT Open Reach. They’ve been ringing me daily recently. Their spiel was about updating my internet security. I called them out as scammers and ended the call. Since the call came from Germany, and after reading other comments here, it’s definitely a scam. Watch out, people! If they manage to alter your internet settings, your connection could be accessed by anyone. I’m gonna try blocking this number on my home phone!

Then 004917393592642 rang me - the person had an accent and was speaking English, with loads of laughing in the background. They claimed to be from BT Openreach and said they were checking for scams. I decided to just end the call.

Got a call from this German number 004917361328832. I didn’t pick up, just let it ring to my answerphone and it stopped ringing after that. Looks like a scam to me. This came through on my landline, so I’m definitely blocking it now.

I got a call from +4917549270673 at about 1:44pm on 18th October 2025. The caller ID showed it was from Germany and flagged it as possible spam, so I just ignored it. Tried looking up the number afterwards but couldn’t find anything useful about it anywhere on the net.

004917774541811 Got a call from some scammers saying there was a dodgy charge of £120 on a train ticket from Edinburgh to London on my bank card. Total scam alert.

Today I got a couple of calls showing as from Germany: 004917188383037 004917734075954 I picked up the first one and it was some robotic message about "unauthorised activity on your card." I just ignored the second since I didn’t fancy it and no voicemail was left. Have blocked both now!

Got a voicemail from 004956013414 about some Amazon charges and a foreign money transfer on my credit card. If only I was around, I’d tell them to find a real job instead of this nonsense...

Got a call from 004721953267 earlier, they asked if my computer signal was working. When I told them it was too early to talk, they just hung up on me.

Got a call from 00496382308352 saying they were from BT and that there was an issue with our broadband. I told them I wasn’t with BT, then they said they owned the lines or something. I asked who they were actually calling and they said they only had the phone number, no name or anything. That just made me more suspicious, so I told them it sounded like a scam and they just hung up.

Got a call saying money had been taken from my bank account for Amazon and a few other things.

Got a call from 004962518606756 on my landline. They said there were 2 transactions on my card that looked suspicious, mentioned the amounts but didn’t say exactly which ones. Asked me to press 1 to cancel, but I hung up straight away.

Got a call from 00492085150105 saying they were from BT Openreach about my broadband. Felt a bit dodgy if you ask me.

I got a rather dubious call from a number beginning with 0049, purporting to be from BT. They alleged there was an issue with my internet speed. I pointed out that I wasn't a BT customer, but they insisted that BT was the main provider for Virgin, Sky, TalkTalk, and the like-what a load of nonsense! They even suggested I check my internet speed on a particular website they provided. The funny thing is, I am indeed a BT customer, so if they were legit, they would have already known that. Clearly a scam. I ended the call promptly.

I somehow erased the whole number from my landline voicemail but just typing in 0049 was enough to see it was a scam. They said my internet would be disconnected soon if... I hung up before they could finish explaining.

0049636775239 rang me claiming to be from sky broadband, saying I was owed some money because my internet wasn’t running at the right speed. They kept pushing to get my bank info. The lady on the phone said her name was Lisa Morgan and she was really insistent.

Got a call from 004966284498, a woman with an Asian accent saying she was from Sky, telling me my internet had problems and to look at the lights on my router. First thing I noticed was she never asked for me by name. Sky always asks for the account holder’s name before anything. Don’t know what scam she had in mind but it was definitely dodgy.

00493027401 left me a voicemail about two transactions, one supposedly from Prime and the other from a bank. They said I needed to approve one and cancel the other.

This number showed up: 0049 6921 356. Didn’t leave a message, but looks like just another one of those similar calls mentioned before.

Got a call from 00496924544 sayin I got 2 charges on my card?? Told me to press 1 if it was right or 2 to speak with someone. I pressed 2 but no one answered. Came from Leicester area. Strange!

I recently received an unsolicited call from an automated system featuring a foreign accent. To my surprise, my number is meant to be private and unlisted. The tone of the call was rather menacing as well. Quite unsettling!

Someone called saying they were from Amazon about my account but I kept asking how they got my number since I never shared it. The caller ID was 00491743276659. Watch out, it’s definitely a scam!

00492089420728 Had the exact same thing as another person wrote... they were asking about a £300 charge from Amazon and a £1,000 one from a bank on "my card". Didn't say which bank or show any card details. Gave me options like "Press 1 or 2". I just pressed 3 and ended the call.

This morning I got an automated call from 0049 15228 120 showing on my phone. The message said there were some transactions on my bank account today around 10:29, one for Amazon £300 and another £1000. It asked me to press 1 or 2, but I didn’t press any button and the call just cut off on their side. When I tried checking who called by dialling 1471, the number given was slightly different, 0049 15228 12068? Bit confusing!

Got a call from someone asking about grants for heating help, said they needed to speak to my husband but he passed away 3 years back. My daughter picked up and ended up upset, they just kept pushing. I’m on a pension, so it felt really wrong. Has anyone else had a call like this? Don’t share any details with them.

The person said they were from my (unnamed) bank and told me that there were card purchases for £300 and a £1000 transfer showing up on my account. They asked me to press 1 to approve or 2 to decline. Do not press any buttons! The 01392 part matches my local area code, so it’s probably a trick to make it seem like a local call.

Got a call from a 0044 number saying someone tried to take between 300 and 1000 from my bank, wanted me to press 1 to stop it...seemed fishy to me.

Just like others have said, got a call pretending to be from Amazon Prime, telling me there was weird stuff going on with my card, and to press 1 to stop it. Total scam - steer clear!!!!!
