This number has rung me up about half a dozen times in just a couple hours. They claim there’s a fault with my internet router that needs sorting out. I’ve ended the calls, told them to leave me alone, even pretended to cooperate, but they just keep ringing relentlessly. Feels like a scam to me.

Got a call from this number but there was a bit of a pause when I picked up. Heard a guy talking to another guy in some language I couldn't understand, then the line just dropped out.

Got a call from a man with an Asian accent saying he was with BT Openreach, trying to "improve my internet speed." I was sure it was a con, but decided to play along, deliberately typing my password all wrong. After about 5 minutes, he probably caught on I was messing with him and told me to shove my finger somewhere rude. I jokingly asked if he wanted that in caps or lowercase! Then he just dropped the call!

He was pretty pushy about getting the admin password, and when I started to question him, he got a bit nasty. Had to hang up on him. Proper sketchy, watch out for these scammers!

Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be with BT, saying my internet wasn't running as quickly as expected. I told them I was happy with my speed and asked how they actually knew what my speed was. Then they wanted me to log in, but I said I wasn’t. When I asked how I could trust they were really from BT, they threatened to disconnect my broadband for a couple of months to prove it. Felt dodgy to me!

I answered with a simple "Hello" like I always do, and the bloke just dropped the call straight away. Ages ago, when I used to volunteer for The Samaritans, we had a similar situation - callers wanting to have beats chatting to a woman and then get all weird about it. At first, I reckoned it might’ve been the same sort of creepy caller.

I got a call from some guy saying my internet wasn’t working right and that my speed was slower than it should be. I let him run on for a bit before I told him flat out that there was nothing wrong with my service and that he was trying to scam me. He started shouting and swearing, so I replied back in Hindi, told him I knew where he was in India and that I’d be reporting him to the NCA. After that, he just hung up on me.

Got calls from some guy who spoke really broken English, claiming to be from BT OpenReach. He kept ringing me about 4 times, like one call every hour or so. Said there was a problem with my router, but that’s not how BT OpenReach work - they never contact customers directly, only through your internet provider. Pretty clear it was a scam.

Totally a scam, no doubt about it. Best to just tell them to bugger off before they start telling you the same. Honestly, I wish these fraudsters would just vanish. Such a pain and a waste of time. Like someone mentioned before, if the police and phone companies actually enforced the rules properly, these scams wouldn’t be happening all the time. What I reckon? Shut down their numbers, take all their money in fines, and lock them up for ages without phones or internet! But yeah, that's probably just dreaming...

It was basically like the one mentioned earlier, he was chatting about my router, and I just let him carry on. Then he tells me to switch it on - I had a right laugh telling him "Nah, I can't, it's at home and you've called a shop instead!"

This number has called me five times today, including a missed call. The line was really bad and crackly, and the people on the other end had Asian accents but very English-sounding names. They were saying they were checking my router. The first three calls they cut off when I told them I didn’t know my router speed because I only use an iPad - they said I needed a laptop, which I don’t have. On the fourth call, I told them to wait a moment while I turned on my recording device, since I wanted to record the conversation - they ended up hanging up straight away. Feels like a scam to me.

Today I got about 7 calls from this number. First, it was an Indian lady, then a really cheeky bloke with an Indian accent. They kept insisting my missus should switch on the laptop. I told the woman she wasn't from BT and it sounded like a con. She hung up sharpish after that. You might want to ring BT and ask about the 1572 service - it’s free and blocks these dodgy numbers automatically.

Got calls from this number about four times today. I invested in BT Guardian phones recently, and I swear it’s the best thing I’ve done. It either stops the dodgy callers straight away or tells you who’s ringing before you pick up. If you don’t want to chat, just hit the block button and they’re gone.

Just got a call from some Indian guy claiming to be from BT Openreach but it was a total scam. When I mentioned I’d report it to Action Fraud, he went off on a profanity-filled rant that was shocking. Honestly some of the things he said I wouldn’t even put here. This number really needs to be blocked ASAP, or even better, shut the whole call centre down. Can BT please step in and sort this out?

Got a call earlier today from someone saying they were from BT Openreach, but since I’m not a BT customer, I immediately thought it was dodgy. The bloke spoke with an Indian accent and kept insisting even when I told him I wasn’t with BT. Each time I asked what he didn’t get about me not being a customer, he just kept going on about how he was allowed to call. When I asked if he knew who he was ringing or what my name was, he started shouting that my customer ID was important or something. I just found it all a bit ridiculous and ended the call on my end.

Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent, there was loads of noise in the background like a call centre. She said she was ringing from BT about some changes to my internet. I told her I was tied up, didn’t have any problems and asked her what she wanted. She snapped back, saying everyone’s busy and just hung up on me. I double-checked with BT and they said it wasn’t them. If you’ve got a BT line, you can ring 1572 and pick option 2 to block the most recent incoming call. So if you’re getting heaps of calls like this, that might help!

Turns out, they'd shove a virus on your computer, then ask for cash to sort it out. This bloke claimed he was from BT, but had a thick Indian accent. Lucky I had caller ID to spot it straight away - didn’t even bother with BT myself, so that was a bit odd. Then there’s my call blocker doing its job brilliantly. I just said “hello” and kept quiet, and the call got cut off straight away, then blocked. Proper dodgy call!

This number’s totally suspicious. Got a couple of calls from them in less than an hour, sounded like some foreigners chatting away with loads of background noise. They said they were from BT and wanted to have a look at my router. I told ’em off with a bunch of swear words and said if they wanna check it out, they should just come round and fix it themselves. Don’t mind the bad spelling, I never really had proper schooling. My old school got bombed by Hermann Goering’s luftwaffe - not many people remember that now, and even fewer seem to care. The place wasn’t properly rebuilt till the sixties, which was too late for me. At least they managed to put up a nice new cathedral. Anyway, these days I’m just a grumpy, dyslexic millionaire who couldn’t care less about anything.

I’ve noticed this same number ringing my landline on three separate occasions over the last couple of hours. Every time, I just let it ring out to voicemail, but they never bother leaving a message and just hang up straight away. The thing is, that number is connected to a line I just use for making calls, not for receiving them - never shared it for anyone to call me back. So yeah, I’m pretty sure these calls are just unwanted spam or annoying nuisance calls.

To get hold of a phone number, you usually need to give an address, and a bank account is necessary to cover the costs. Stopping these calls would be pretty straightforward. But the problem is, the heads of the phone companies and banks seem to be working hand in hand with the scammers, and even some police forces are in on it. If they really wanted to, they could shut this down overnight. The cash made from all these scams is shared among different groups, which is why it keeps going. We won’t see any change until there’s a trustworthy government and banking system, and law enforcement starts doing their proper job. Sadly, many senior officers are probably taking bribes from these scammers, so don’t hold your breath for it to end anytime soon.
