I opted not to return their calls or answer, as it seemed to be a missed call, or as some might say, a ‘flash call’. I have a strong suspicion these might be scammers trying their luck!

+22624466549 rang my mum a few times, then by mistake I rang the number back when I was tryna block it. I overheard a quick bit of their voicemail then hung up straightaway. Oddly, my O2 credit went down big time even though I barely used the phone - it’s an old relative’s handset and it’s mostly switched off. I had topped it up yesterday with over £10, but when I checked later, it had gone down to just £1.48. Just a heads up, better not ring this number back.

Honestly, anytime I get a call from abroad, I just ignore it first and then check the number online. My brother’s in Thailand and sometimes messes up his phone code, but even then, I wouldn't answer a strange number. I’d just send him a text to check he's alright. Seriously, don’t pick up or call back if it’s someone you don’t recognise!

Got a call at 3:40 in the morning, absolute nonsense. I just slapped it onto auto reject straight away. These annoying calls keep coming from all sorts of different numbers. Beware of the Wangiri scam, it’s really risky. Check out the post above the ‘hotspot’ map on this site. There’s an ‘action fraud’ link where you can add it straight to the police’s records. Head over to the ‘reporting’ part and report it under phishing, you don’t need to sign up or anything. If you’ve called back, you’ve basically handed over money and should definitely report it as a crime. We all need to step up and report every scam we get, that’s the only way we’ll get rid of these dodgy calls eventually.
