This morning I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying there was something wrong with my computer. I told her my computer was fine and to stop calling me. She kept talking so I just ended the call. Definitely a scam.

My elderly mother had the unfortunate experience of receiving relentless phone calls from this number, and I was present to handle the situation. The callers were shockingly rude and confrontational, completely dismissing the fact that they were ringing a private line for the residential care home where my mum resides. They were insistent that my mother - who doesn’t own a computer - should engage with them, and even went so far as to THREATEN to keep calling until she did. This behaviour is nothing short of harassment and wholly unacceptable. Had I not been there to intervene, I dread to think how an elderly and vulnerable person might have reacted to this pressure. True to form, they did indeed ring back multiple times, and when I mentioned I would escalate the matter to the authorities, they callously told me to go ahead, asserting that I couldn't put a stop to their incessant calls.

Had a call from some guy named “Jon” claiming to be from Microsoft support, said he was ringing from Hanover Street, London. When I asked him what number he was calling from, he wouldn’t say a thing. I mentioned I was recording the chat and he suddenly got really rude, even hoping something bad on me, then just hung up hard. My advice? Keep recording these calls, it really gets under their skin, and you can have a bit of fun messing with them!

So, this morning I got a call from someone claiming my Windows PC was infected with malware and that it happened every time I used it. I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, especially since I actually teach IT security for a living. When I didn’t fall for it, the bloke started getting quite rude, which was honestly quite amusing.

I received a rather dodgy call today from a woman claiming that some corrupt files had been mysteriously downloaded onto my computer. When I expressed my confusion, she just chirped, "Oh dear," and said she was with technical support. Naturally, I was curious how she managed to get my details, considering I hadn’t signed up for anything. Her tone was rather offhand and quite rude, if I'm honest. So, I decided to turn the tables and asked her for my name. To my amusement, she blurted out some entirely random name without a second thought. When I pressed her again about how she obtained my information, she refused to answer-and honestly, her evasiveness was telling. I then told her to take her little scam elsewhere. Predictably, she just hung up!

I decided to engage the chap in conversation for as long as I could-figured it might hold him up from targeting someone more easily duped. In the end, though, I got a bit fed up and hung up the line.

I got a call from 002125143621 and the bloke on the line sounded Asian, called himself Shaun and said he’s from some sort of Computer Maintenance Team. When I asked who he wanted to talk to, he said it was about a laptop. I told him I don’t own one. Then he went on about me needing to get a laptop because I was going to die soon. I asked why I’d be dying soon and he just said I would be. I asked why I’d bother buying a laptop then and he said it was for keeping memories. After that, he started swearing at me, so I just hung up.

Got calls from this number two days in a row, both times men. One bloke claimed he was from Windows support, the other insisted he worked in Computer Maintenance, both quite pushy with their spiel. Got a call from someone saying they were with ‘UTC’ and that my computer had issues they could fix. I asked how I could trust them and not get scammed or hacked, and their only reply was ‘Why would we do that?’ I told them that sounded exactly like what a scammer would say, then they just hung up on me.
