Got a call about some Boots shares we supposedly sold ages back. They claimed we still held some, but to access the cash, we had to purchase an insurance bond for around £4,000. Total rip-off, clearly a scam!

Got a call from a lady blabbering on about Vodafone shares and some sort of script problem. I explained I don't own any shares anymore and haven't been on the shareholders list for ages. She kept going on and on, so I just left the phone on the desk and let her carry on. Felt like a total scam to me.

Today, someone named Jennifer rang me from this number, trying to sell me IAG shares they claimed I owned but actually don’t. I’d already fallen for a similar scam a few years back, so I told her to find a proper job instead. She got really nasty after that and started shouting, so I hung up pretty quick.

Got a call from a woman about some kind of share deal involving Scottish Power Telecom through the DAS Group. I told her I didn’t own any SPT shares and wasn’t interested at all. She kept pushing, even had my previous address and claimed I must’ve forgotten about them. Then she rattled off a bunch of telecom companies that supposedly merged or got bought out. I told her again to stop and ended the call when she started swearing at me. She had a Caribbean accent and there was loads of background noise like she was in a call centre.

I got an email supposedly from a Mr Rex Yan, claiming to be from the Acquisition Department, talking about shares I supposedly hold in Santander. Thing is, I don’t own any shares there. He kept going on that I should sell them and offered some “great price”. He even attached a Non Disclosure agreement for me to sign. For the past two weeks, I’ve had calls from him twice a day, but I just hang up straight away. Really frustrating and no doubt it’s a scam.

They said they were a US firm wanting to invest in Lloyds Bank shares between £7 and £15 to get 51% control, but the shares are actually about 45p now. They wanted me to fill out a form, some kind of confidentiality agreement with personal details, and promised to email it. Got a call on 25/3/24 around 7.30pm. Callers need to say who they are first, and I recognised the voice from last week, but they rung from a different number which I’d already blocked, RE BT Shares - definitely a scam. The number from last week was 0017702838084. I didn’t pick up this time, let it go to voicemail but they didn’t leave a message, just hung up. I reported it to BT after the last call.

Got a call about some share buyout deal between BAA and Ferrovial or something like that. They must’ve been using some really outdated info, probably from years ago. If you get a call from this number, don’t answer any of their questions. I got a call around 8:20 this evening from a man claiming his name was Mark Hamilton. He said he was contacting me about a BT shares takeover. What freaked me out was that he already knew my name, address and that I held shares in BT. When I told him I thought it was a scam since no decent company would ring at such a late hour without sending a letter first, he actually said something horrible like hoping my family suffers badly. Honestly, what a nasty piece of work.

My phone showed 'caller announced' when this number called. Looks like they gave some details for my phone to display that. Seeing the number was from abroad, I was sure it was one of those scams. I missed a call earlier and it went straight to voicemail since we weren’t home. Didn’t get a message though, just some strange quiet noises that sounded like they might’ve been speaking some Indian language before they hung up. Not sure what their game is, but I’ll wait and see if they ring again to figure out what kind of scam they’re running.

Got a call from this number the other day. The person said someone was interested in buying my old Northern Rock shares, which they said were now Virgin Money shares or something like that. Creepy bit was they had my name and address. They asked if they could send me some paperwork via email or fax. I told them Northern Rock went bust years ago and I don’t own any Virgin Money shares. They kept pushing, saying I did. I explained it was a cold call and I wasn’t about to hand out my email. Told them to send anything by post if they really wanted to. They just hung up on me.

Got a call from 0017196268021 on Friday around 8.24pm. The woman on the line, who sounded Asian, wanted to chat to my mum about some IAG shares, you know, the ones from the old British Airways. Strange thing is, she knew a load about my mum - like her full name, number, even when she sold the shares. Mum wasn't happy about the late call and told her if it's work, she should ring during office hours. The caller said she was calling from the US, saying they're five hours behind our time. When I asked him, he said the company was called Rexian or something like that. I didn’t give away any personal info, obviously. I just told him I wasn’t interested and he seemed fine about hanging up.

Got a call this morning from a lady with an Asian accent saying she needed to talk about my shares in Banco Santander because of a potential hostile takeover. I told her it all seemed a bit dodgy and asked her to send something through the post instead. Oddly enough, she then mentioned the start of my postal address, but after looking up things on this site, I’m pretty sure no letter will ever turn up!

Got a call from this number out of nowhere, they kept asking me if I wanted to sell my Vodafone shares. Thing is, I don't own any! When I kept questioning them, they got really rude and started insulting my mum and dad. I figured right away it was some sort of scam, especially since the caller claimed he was a plumber!

Got a call from a lady in the US saying she knew my mum, who apparently was a BT shareholder. I told her my mum died two decades ago, which really threw her off. I told her this sounded like a scam and said I’d be calling them back. Ended up blocking the number and just ignored it after that.

I tried explaining I don’t own any National Grid shares when they called up. Told them that if they wanted info from me, they’d need to send a letter first. They said they could only write after I answered their questions, but I told them I wasn’t gonna do that. Right after, they just cut the call straight away.

So I got a call from someone saying they wanted to chat about some Santander shares. They didn’t come across as very sincere or trustworthy at all. She told me if I really had any worries or questions, I should just put them in writing and send it over. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Seems pretty believable at first. She mentioned that her client wanted to make a hostile offer for BT shares, and I happen to own some. Luckily, I looked up the number on this site and found out it’s definitely a scam. Glad I didn’t fall for it!

Got a call on my home phone about 7.27pm from someone saying they needed to send me paperwork about shares and wanted to double check my name and address. Told her she shouldn’t be ringing me up like this and asked for her contact number so my son, who works in fraud, could call her back. She just cut the line straight away.

Looks like a scam to me. The woman on the line said her name was Leanne Wilson (others have reported the same), claiming she was some sort of business manager. She spoke English with a noticeable Chinese accent, and you could tell it was coming through a VoIP line. She asked for somebody who no longer lives at this address but wouldn't explain why she was calling. I'm pretty sure it was a scam, probably trying for identity fraud or some dodgy share scheme. Stay sharp!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be with Silveredge Consultancy in New York, said they do mergers and takeovers. He was interested in buying my Lloyds Bank shares at £6 each, which is way higher than the actual price of about 47p. He already had my full details - name, home address and phone. Then he asked me to sign some Non-disclosure Agreement and wanted me to pay for an Indemnity insurance bond. He provided his email as well. Total scam. Just hung up straight away.

This number has rung me quite a few times, and I ended up picking up today, only to quickly realise it was a scam. A woman with an American accent kept talking about stocks, but I told her I thought it was a con. She got annoyed and warned me the call was being recorded, telling me not to throw around baseless claims - then she just hung up on me! From now on, I’m just going to let my answerphone pick up first before I bother answering any calls from landlines.

Got a call from this number asking for someone who doesn’t live at my place. When I asked who they wanted, they said it was something urgent. I had a feeling right away it was probably a scam. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

At about half past five in the evening, I got a call from someone who said they were from Silveredge Consultancy. They claimed something about my Northern Rock shares that are over 23 years old being part of some dividend scheme. I ended up giving them my email but didn’t take it any further. Later, I received an email that appeared to be from Silveredge Consultancy LLC, signed off by a Frank Dale. It’s pretty obvious to me this was all a con.

They had my full name, phone number and even my address, which was a bit creepy. She mentioned something about me owning 75 scrip shares from BAA, which I never told her about - maybe she guessed? Right away I got suspicious. Just as things started feeling fishy, my call waiting beeped, so I cut the call short. Feels like it might have been a dodgy scam or some kind of fraud attempt.

Got a call around 5.15pm today (7/7/23) from 0017196268021. It was a woman with a strong accent, said her name was Lian Wilson and said she worked for Steinburg Capital Partners - their website only went live on 27 June 2023. She was asking about some sort of payout for Northern Rock shares and somehow knew both our names. Later got a dodgy email with an attachment that asked for personal info. Didn’t fill anything out and sent it straight to [email protected]. Number and email has been blocked now.

Got a call from 0017196268021, this Asian woman was going on about some National Grid shares I supposedly had. She kept mentioning 'scrip shares' and said she was from a firm handling a hostile takeover or something.
