Yesterday I got two calls from a woman speaking with an American accent. She said she was interested in buying some shares I had. She even knew my name and exactly which shares I owned. I told her I wasn’t looking to sell and she just ended the call. Sounds like a scam to me.

So, I got a call about selling some script shares they say I own, and they want me to sign a non disclosure agreement first. Sounds fishy to me since I’ve dealt with something like this in the past - definitely a scam!

Like a lot of others, I keep getting calls from 00163###.

My phone shows the number but no name, so I usually don’t bother answering. When I check my voicemail, there’s just a brief silence before it cuts off.

Seems like a typical scam call - best to just ignore it!

Today, my parents got a call from 00163### asking to speak with me. I was visiting at the time and answered the phone. The caller was an Asian bloke who asked if I still held shares in BT. I didn’t say anything. He claimed to be an agent representing a client who owns about ###% of the shares and was interested in buying shares from private investors for £8 to £### each. He said he’d send me some info. I told him I wasn’t interested and never said I owned any BT shares, pointing out he was just a cold caller. He then swore at me and abruptly ended the call.

Some bloke from China rang me up, said he worked for a New York firm and that one of his clients was interested in buying my shares. He had all my details, even my address, and mentioned I’d held the shares for ages. Sounded proper convincing, well spoken and polite too. Honestly, I was almost fooled since the company he claimed to be real does come up on Google. In the end, though, I checked and realised I’d already sold those shares years ago.

I couldn’t quite catch the company’s name, sounded maybe Chinese? A guy using what looked like a US number claimed to have my info. He was saying his client already owned a big chunk of National Grid and was offering shares between £### and £###. Then he asked if I wanted the confidentiality agreement sent by fax or email. Didn’t have my email, so I didn’t give it. Told him I wasn’t interested and he just hung up on me, which isn’t how a legit person would behave. The call got through my screening because it was really crackly and he just said a quick word before hanging up. Definitely feels like a scam.

On the 15th of March, I got a call from 00163### about some recent share dealings in South Africa. It rang at around ###:###. Seemed a bit suspicious to me.

Got a call from a woman who spoke very clearly, said she was working for someone interested in buying Lloyd's Banking Group. She mentioned having info from Lloyd’s shareholder list. But as soon as I asked about the company registration number, she quickly ended the call.

Got a call from a really posh sounding woman claiming to be a broker in New York, saying something about Iberdrola shares and Scottish Power. The number she called from started with 00163###. Watch out, she was super convincing, but definitely a scam.

Got a couple of calls earlier today, someone was saying cash had been withdrawn from my bank. I just hung up straight away.

I got a call from 00163### but decided not to pick up since when I looked up that area code, it wasn’t listed anywhere. I tried hanging up but the phone just kept ringing for about two minutes straight. No clue who or where the call was from since I never actually answered it.
