Got a call from 001448764789####, they kept trying to make me open some ‘validator’ thing. Said they were from BT and that my internet was slow. Total scam, just hang up straight away!

On 4th October 2019, I got a call from 001441968579550 claiming to be from BT's tech team. The guy told me my wi-fi was compromised. When I said I suspected it was a scam, he suddenly turned rude and warned me the call was being recorded, saying it'd be my fault if my internet went down. I ended the call there. Then, a couple of hours later, the same number rang me again.

Got a call from 001441389142353, said they were from BT and there was an issue with my internet. Thing is, I don’t even have BT! They tried to convince me with fake details. I pretended to go along with it for a bit and got handed over to their ‘manager’. They asked me to download some software to get remote access to my computer. If I had, they could’ve had full control and possibly stolen bank info. When I said I thought they were up to no good, the so-called manager started saying really nasty stuff about my mum.

Got a call from some bloke with an Indian accent just prattling on nonsense. I ended up hanging up, proper annoyed with this bloody scammer.

I got ringed twice in a row today from 001447340942791 and 001446244931010 - both calls just minutes apart. It really seemed dodgy, like something fishy was going on with our network. Luckily, we knew it was probs a scam and just let it go to voicemail.

Got a call from 00144 195 946 2029 this morning about 8.30. Like others here have said, there was a recorded message warning that my internet would be disconnected within 24 to 48 hours due to some illegal activity. They say they’re from my internet provider but dont actually say who they are. They told me to press 1 to talk to an ‘executive’. Had the exact same call yesterday but from a different number (01231 830046). Seems like a proper scam to me.

Just got a ring from 001447493740976, and like a few others mentioned, it’s definitely one of those internet service scams. They seem to be hitting up mobiles and landlines alike.

About a month back, I got a call from a 0144 number warning that our internet would be disconnected in half an hour due to some illegal stuff. The person had a strong American accent. Then just today, 17/09/19, a call came through from 001445573347105, again saying the internet would be cut off in 24 hours and telling me to talk to their "technical executive" (bit cheesy, Americans always use that phrase) by pressing 1. I just ended the call straight away. Seriously, don’t press 1, just hang up!

Got a call telling me to press 1 right away or they'd shut off my internet for some so-called illegal stuff. Sounded dodgy to me.

Got a recorded call from 001441298615716 saying my internet service would be cut off in 24 hours due to some illegal stuff. They told me to press 3 to call back. I just ignored it. Before, the caller mentioned BT, but this time they didn’t say which provider it was.

I got three calls, each from a different 00144 number, all with the same recorded message saying my internet would be cut off due to some illegal stuff happening on their server. It was obvious a scam since they never named my internet provider, which they’d have to if it was true, plus you don’t just lose your entire internet over “server issues” like that, especially when my landline isn’t even linked to my internet.
I was a bit curious and pressed 1, then some really American-sounding voice said I’d be connected, and next thing there was a person chatting away in a noisy call centre. That’s when I ended the call and blocked them.
Honestly, best thing is to just block numbers like this straight away.

Got a call from 00144 3873 2989 but it hung up as soon as ansafone picked up. We ain't with BT and our number's registered with TPS. Still can't figure out what that '00144' prefix means or where it's from.

The number was 00144199069 and no clue who that was, I didn't pick up since I’ve had about 5 dodgy calls just this week. It rang around 13:30 on 26/08/2019. It’s really annoying getting these unknown calls - almost every day this week there’s been two or three from different places. Looks like some sort of scam to me, considering one came from China, another from Indonesia, and one from Australia, all totally different. Then this one too. I just don’t get why these people can randomly dial numbers to see who answers without any consequences. They must be scam calls since I don’t know a single person from any of those countries.

This afternoon I got a call from 001442088550771 saying hackers from another country were using my internet for shady stuff. They wanted me to let them access my laptop, desktop, and iPad to put some kind of software on them to keep me safe. I just told them I already had solid protection on all my devices and ended the call.

001442081109054 steer clear of calls from 00144, they're definite scam numbers. Got a call on 20/08/19 from a woman with an Indian accent pretending to be from BT, saying there was some dodgy activity on my server and asked me to link up my computer. I played along but I knew it was dodgy, so I kept messing with her until she got proper annoyed, then told her I wasn’t from BT and to jog on, you muppet. Then I got another call threatening to cut my internet if I didn’t press 1, same scam again. Now these muppets keep ringing but no one ever picks up. Must've really pissed them off!

Got this call from someone claiming to be from my internet supplier. Left a prerecorded message threatening to disconnect my service because apparently I’ve been looking into who’s been messing about with the royal family, or checking facts on British media nonsense about Brexit. They even mentioned stuff about the Atlantic Council and some stories on the Palestinians. Total scam if you ask me. Avoid these muppets!

BT’s 1572 feature is pretty good at blocking loads of scam calls right from the first ring, but you’ve got to get it added to your account by BT before you can use it. It’s a handy tool, that one, stops most dodgy numbers straight away. Also, if a scam call does slip through, your tip is spot on - if you’ve got 1572 activated, you can just dial 1572 after the call ends and then put the number straight on your block list. Fingers crossed it keeps those annoying calls at bay!

Nah, it’s not like some individual at BT is leaking your info. But companies can buy a CD from BT that contains all the registered phone numbers and the names linked to them. I’d suggest folks give BT a ring and sign up for their anti-scam thing by dialling 1572 - it stops most dodgy calls after a single ring. Another option is to get the BT Call Guardian service, which lets you block whatever calls you don’t fancy taking.

Over the past couple of days, I kept getting calls that played a recorded message warning me my internet would be cut off unless I hit 1 to call back. I ignored it every time, but just so you know, this is the number they were calling from.

Got a call from 001441722327997 with a recorded voice saying it was BT, warning that my phone and broadband would be cut off unless I pressed option 1 or 2. I’m not even a BT customer, and this is the third time I’ve had the same message this past few months. Ignored it every time and nothing’s happened, so it’s obvious a scam.

This number 001449138868152 kept ringing my landline - three times in one afternoon! Each time I picked up, total silence, not a word said. So frustrating. When I tried checking the caller ID by dialling 1471, all I got was the number displayed and then instructed to just hang up. Really annoying experience.

Today at around 4:05 pm, I got a call from this number but no one spoke. I tried saying hello a couple of times, then a voice told me to hang up. I just ended the call and deleted the number straight away. This has scam written all over it!

When this number rings you, just contact your internet or phone provider and they’ll give you the right number to block it. It’s the best way to stop getting calls from them.

THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY FROM BT, but it’s just a dodgy scammer from somewhere overseas. I blocked the 01989736841 number earlier today, and then this arsehole called again from 001441934340358 later on. Blocked that one as well. Honestly, I reckon some people might actually get fooled by this rubbish.

If you’re on BT and sick of getting calls from the same number, try this - right after you end the call, dial 1572 on your phone. That should block that number for you. Seems to do the trick!
