The phone calls were really aggressive and to top it off, the letters they sent were just awful and full of threats. Proper unpleasant experience.Jeff Anderson11 yearsGot a dodgy email claiming it's from some Bureau of Defaulters Agency, saying I’m about to be taken to court and my SSN is frozen by the US Federal Government. It insisted I’ve ignored all their attempts to sort out a debt and that I’m now in serious trouble. They mentioned legal charges like federal banking violations, check fraud, and theft by deception. They warned that if I don’t get back to them within 48 hours, they’ll hand it over to their lawyer and could go after me for wire fraud, plus fees and court costs. They even threatened to report me to the FBI, FTC, Homeland Security, my employer, and my bank. The letter said if I’m found guilty, I’d owe over $3,000 plus additional fees. Apparently, I’ve got two choices: either fight it in court or settle the account through OOCR to avoid legal trouble. They offered a contact number for ‘more information’, which I’m not touching with a bargepole.
