I picked up the phone and was greeted by someone from India, purporting to be from Windows technical support. They insisted that they had discovered I’d been downloading dodgy software. Curious, I asked them for my email address, and without so much as a word, they just cut the line! Quite disappointing, really, as I was in the mood for a bit of banter with them!

Got a ring from a number I didn't recognise, picked up since I’m with the cops and sometimes calls from mates on the force show up as “no caller ID” or “unknown.” Said hello, waited a few seconds and then they just hung up. I checked with my phone company and they told me this number, along with ones like 99999999999, is actually a spoofed number. The caller’s messed around with the network's Caller Display to mask their real number and dodge call blockers. Just don't answer calls that show up as repeated digits - they’re obviously up to no good.

Earlier today, I received a call from this number, and to my surprise, a woman with a foreign accent seemed to possess all my personal details-my address, phone number, and even the fact that I’m retired. When I inquired how she had acquired such information, her response was mumbled and unclear. She then proceeded to mention she had a few questions that would only take “30 seconds” of my time. I firmly stated I wasn’t keen on answering any queries, but she began asking anyway. I interrupted politely, saying, “I believe your 30 seconds are up,” and hung up the phone after expressing my thanks. Since that encounter, I’ve been inundated with eight more calls from this number, which I’ve chosen to ignore. I received a phone call from this number on the 9th of January 2016 around a quarter to three in the afternoon. They rang me multiple times, and after ignoring them for a bit, I eventually picked up. A chap on the other end kept saying, "Hello? Hello?" When I finally responded with a "yes," he claimed to be calling from NDA in Kuwait. Straight after that, I made the decision to block the number.
