Got a call saying it was from CRA, claiming there’s a tax fraud probe and that either me or my solicitor needs to ring this number. Totally sounds like a scam to me!

This happened to me as well. Someone rang up saying I owed cash and that I was being accused of fraud, threatening court action. When I asked for proof, the caller dodged the question and kept insisting I was cheating the tax office. I told them I'd have my accountant ring them instead.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the CRA office. He gave me an identity number and his name, sounded really official and proper. He said I was being served with an affidavit about my taxes, that there’d been a mistake in my return and I owed $2,735 in back taxes from 2010 onwards. But my taxes were always up to date! He warned me about wage garnishment, freezing my passport, messing with my SIN, all sorts of threats. I told him my accountant handles my taxes, and his attitude was really off. Normally, they offer payment plans, not scare tactics. I said I would contact my lawyer and ended the call. Right after that, I drove to my mate’s place and searched the number online - turns out loads of people reported this guy as a scammer.

Got a text saying something about an urgent problem I needed to deal with right away, either me or my lawyer. I tried ringing the number back but just got a busy tone. So, I looked up the number online and stumbled upon this website. The bloke on the message called himself an Officer and warned that if I didn’t act fast, there’d be legal trouble.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Robert, saying he was from the CRA. He started accusing me of fraud and said the government was taking legal action against me. Then he tried to convince me they would represent me as lawyers or something like that. Honestly, it felt like a complete scam to steal my cash. Definitely do not ring them back!

Got a call from this number earlier today. Didn’t plan on ringing back, but after seeing all the comments here, I thought why not. When I answered, the bloke claimed he was from the fraud department. I asked him to back it up with some proper proof and paperwork. Suddenly, he started muttering some awful stuff like “I’m gonna f*** you up the a**, and you’ll enjoy it.”
If this is the same person messing about, cheers for the laughs, but honestly, mate, time to find a new pastime or get a grip. This nonsense is well stale now.

Someone named Robert Williams said he was from Revenue Canada called me earlier today. Honestly, their opening was so poor it was almost funny. I just chuckled and wiped the voicemail off my answering machine. It pays to keep up with the news and do your own research, so you know the correct channels to deal with things like tax issues. Long story short, this call was clearly a scam.

The person who called me first said his name was Robert Williams, working from some office. But when I rang back after he ended the call, he gave a different name - Daniel Smith. He told me I was under investigation for tax fraud and claimed I owed $2200 that I had to pay immediately or else the cops would come arrest me. I asked him to send me proof, but he wouldn’t. I told him I’d just go straight to the police and sort it out with them. Then he just hung up on me, saying he was going to report me instead.

I gave them a ring and this guy told me I owe money from 2010 to 2014. While I was chatting with him, I decided to Google the number and discovered it was a scam. Honestly, if you’re ever doubtful, just do a quick search on the number first. Don’t give out any of your personal details, better to be safe than sorry.

Do not answer if someone says they are from the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency)! It’s definitely a scam. Just block and ignore them. Make sure to tell your friends and family, especially the ones who might be easy targets, to be careful too!
