I got a call from someone pretending to be with the IRS saying I owed back taxes and needed to pay right away. Total scam, just block those numbers!

On the 7th of July, I received a call from someone claiming to be Officer Robert Williams. He insisted I was a main suspect in some tax fraud case. I told him I had no clue what he was talking about. When I asked for his ID, he just ended the call. I tried ringing back, but the person who answered said the guy had already hung up, then they hung up on me too. Honestly, if they’re not giving you their details first and just demanding yours, it’s a dead giveaway it’s a scam.

Someone left a voicemail warning me that if I or my solicitor don't get back to them right away, there’d be some legal trouble.

This number rang me on my mobile today. It was some sort of recorded message saying Robert William from the Canada Revenue Agency's crime unit wanted to speak with me about an important legal issue. They warned that if I didn’t get back to them quickly, legal steps would be taken. What gave it away was the automated voice, no personal details mentioned, and the urgent threat - all signs it was a con. I looked it up here to be sure and yep, it’s a scam. I wouldn’t waste your time calling it back.

Got a call from someone named rober william who warned me I'd be in big trouble and told me to get a lawyer. Sounded really menacing. Definitely a scam!!!

I got a call from 1-844-8725110 and the guy said his name was Robert Williams. He claimed to be an officer from the CRA and kept telling me I had some urgent legal matter to sort out. It felt really intimidating and kind of fishy. I decided to look up the number online and quickly found out it was a scam. Cheers for sharing info about this number here, it helped me not get tricked.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Roger Brown at the CRA, saying I’m a tax fraud criminal and that the RCMP would be arresting me today unless I paid over £3000 immediately. Two different men spoke to me, both with Indian accents. When I asked for an official officer’s number and department contact, neither could provide it, which made me really suspicious. I kept asking the same questions and the guy eventually got annoyed, his voice raising. That’s when I knew for sure they weren’t legit government agents. Luckily, I didn’t hand over any personal details. They were basically threatening me with arrest if I didn’t pay within an hour. Such a horrible situation. I hope those scammers get caught soon. I’m sure plenty of other people have had calls like this from these fraudsters.
