Got a call claiming to be from FPL saying my electricity would be cut off in 45 minutes. They said my auto-pay didn’t go through and I had to settle the bill immediately. Then they told me to dash around to somewhere like Dollar Tree or CVS to grab a gift card, probably a MoneyPak or something, and give them the number. Considering we were still recovering from hurricane Irma with hardly any power or petrol, it felt like a wild goose chase just to find a shop that was open. It definitely seemed like a scam to me. They claimed I owed just one bill, but they actually added up a bunch of my FPL payments. Plus, they didn’t even have my full account number. The call was really scratchy too, full of static.
