10 yearsI got this freaky alert popping up on my computer saying I had only 5 minutes to call a number or else all my data would vanish from my hard drive. It also warned me not to shut down the PC or the same thing would happen. I decided to look up the number online and quickly found out it was a total scam! Interestingly, the alert pops up every time I try to get on YouTube via Google, but when I access it through Yahoo, I don’t get any message. What can really be done about these con artists? I used to trust places like BBB, but it seems useless now since loads of complaints get ignored and no government agencies seem to take real action. They start trying to push a service on you for $649 US and then drop it to $250 US just so you hang up quicker.
