Hey everyone, thanks for sharing the info. Today’s 5th July 2016 and I got a robocall from this number saying I’m involved in some legal case and to ring them straight away. I didn’t pick up at first but later I tried calling them back and all I got was “all lines are busy.” Looks like a scam to me, especially since my number’s been unlisted for about 3 years now and I hardly ever get any marketing calls - only just started recently. I’m in Ontario, Canada.

BEWARE OF THIS SCAM - THEY'RE NOW ASKING FOR YOUR NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER. IF YOU GIVE THEM A FAKE ONE, THEY IMMEDIATELY CLAIM IT’S INVALID AND STOP TALKING TO YOU.

THEY’RE PRETENDING TO BE THE ‘OFFICIAL’ TAX OFFICE, TRYING TO TRICK YOU.

WHEN YOU DON'T COOPERATE, THEY JUST HANG UP. I RANG BACK TO CALL THEM OUT AS SCAMMERS, AND THE GUY WITH AN INDIAN ACCENT SAID SOME VERY RUDE THINGS TO ME, EVEN ADMITTED HE WAS SCAMMING PEOPLE.

NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER TO CALLERS LIKE THIS.

THE REAL TAX OFFICE WOULD NEVER CALL YOU OUT OF THE BLUE LIKE THIS.

Got a call off some bloke today, same rubbish as usual. When I asked if there was anyone who could speak proper English, he got all angry. Said his name was Roy Parker and had an East Indian accent. I just gave him my solicitor's number and ended the call.

I got three calls all saying something about a tax lawsuit and telling me to ring back. I’m pretty sure pretending to be from the tax office is illegal, isn’t it? Surely the authorities should step in and shut these scammers down once and for all.

Got a bunch of calls from these idiots like 5 times over the past week. One bloke with a heavy Indian accent said he was "Ben Moon" or something daft. I just pretended to go along with it, then when they asked for my card details, I just laughed and they ended up hanging up on me.

I’m actually facing jail time for not paying my taxes. *chuckles* Also, Anna Thompson supposedly has an Indian accent? Seriously? With a name like that, it sounds off. Bet her real name is something like Indira Gupta or whatever. Just be honest, yeah? :)

Big thanks to everyone sharing their experiences. I got hit with the same call today - they left about four messages saying I was involved in a tax fraud case with the Revenue Agency. Said either me or my solicitor had to get back in touch. When I rang them back, they wasted no time trying to grab my details. Never, ever share your personal info with these lot. I asked them for a local contact number, their address (which was totally fake), and their website, but then they just cut me off. I rang back four times and every caller had the same accent, sounded like Indian. Keep your guard up, folks!

These calls are definitely a foreign scam - I rang them a few times and each caller spoke with the same accent. I was making my breakfast and ended up wasting about 20 minutes of their time. They keep telling you that you owe between $2000 and $4000 in taxes, but the amount changes every time you call. They seem to get pretty annoyed if you tell them you hope someone robs their mum or call them out for being no better than armed thieves. After about seven calls, they stop picking up, so don’t bother trying more than that. If one of their so-called “RCMP” officers turns up to arrest you, just ask to see their badge and then tell them that Ron warned you it was a scam - maybe even offer them a cuppa. Should be alright then!

Got a ring from this number earlier, and some robotic lady said I owed the CRA cash. She warned if I or a lawyer didn’t get back to them quick, legal trouble was coming. I knew it was dodgy, so I phoned them up again. A live guy with an East Indian accent picked up, calling himself “Officer James Moon” from “Canada Revenue Headquarters”. I mess ed about for a while just to kill some time, since they’re trying to waste ours... Honestly, these scammers are the worst!

Just like everyone else said, this call was weird cause we live in Quebec but the message was all in English. Don't fall for it folks, if it was a real scam or something serious, they'd send you a registered letter or even have the police show up...

I’ve received calls like this a few times now, maybe three or four, and I got two of them today alone. They always say the exact same thing. One time I tried calling back, but all I got was a busy tone. Also, the voicemail they left was all in English.

I got a voicemail from some person talking about tax fraud and evasion, said I need to ring them or get my solicitor to do it. They warned that if I don’t get back to them, they’ll take me to court. Then oddly, they ended with “Thanks, have a great day.” I just finished my taxes last month and actually got a refund. Sounds like a total scam to me!

Got a voicemail from some person claiming I was involved in tax fraud and that I needed to ring them or get my lawyer to do it, otherwise they'd drag me into court. Then they ended by saying thanks and have a nice day. I just filed my taxes a few weeks ago and even got a refund. Total scam if you ask me!

Received a voicemail like this today, all about supposed tax fraud and evasion, telling me to have a lawyer or myself ring them back. I ignored it. I’ve had calls like this from different numbers before - when I did ring back, they claimed they could fix everything for $6,000. I instantly knew it was dodgy so I challenged them to give me my SIN, saying I’d send the money if they could. Unsurprisingly, they couldn’t provide it and ended the call. I reported it to the police; they’re already on top of this. These crooks just prey on people who don’t know any better - total scumbags.

This number just rang me. It was a robotic voice, no personal names mentioned, but it claimed to be from the Tax Office saying my name or my business was involved in some legal case. They told me or my solicitor to ring back right away, or I’d be fully liable for it. The automated message gave a phone number and ended with a polite thank you and have a nice day. I just ended the call, didn’t bother getting back to them, and quickly looked up the number online. Loads of sites flag it as a scam. Definitely don’t pick up if you see this one!

I got a call with someone threatening legal trouble, saying I was involved in tax fraud. It sounded dodgy straight away, so I looked the number up online and ended up on this site. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

I got a call claiming to be from the CRA and they left a voicemail about some tax fraud and evasion stuff, telling me either me or my lawyer had to ring them back, otherwise they'd say I’m fully responsible for the “consequences”. When I returned the call, it was a busy call centre in the background with loads of chatter. The first thing they wanted was my social insurance number, but I told them I’m not giving that info over the phone, then they abruptly said they couldn’t assist and just hung up. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.
