Someone tried to con me earlier, but luckily I managed to turn off my computer quick enough. I only gave them my name, nothing else. Fingers crossed I avoided any trouble.

DON’T FALL FOR THIS SCAM... You might get a pop-up warning on your screen claiming your PC is full of viruses stealing your info. They’ll tell you to ring a so-called Microsoft technician or they’ll shut down your computer to protect their systems. They talk you through fake help on the phone, then pass you to another person who demands £100 or so to “fix” your machine. When they asked me for money, I just said “No thanks”, switched my PC off and turned it on again. Then I used a free tool called CCleaner to clean up my C drive. After that, my computer worked perfectly fine.

Got a call telling me my computer was infected and that I had to ring this number straight away or else it would get shut down. Pretty sure it’s one of those dodgy Microsoft scams about malware. Watch out for this!
