I nearly fell victim to a scam attempt! Thankfully, I managed to power down my computer just in the nick of time. The only detail I shared was my name, so fingers crossed that's all they got.

THIS IS PURE FOLLY! You'll get a notification pop up on your screen claiming that your device is crawling with malicious software that’s out to steal your personal information. They urge you to ring a number for assistance from a so-called Microsoft technician, alleging they'll need to lockdown your machine to safeguard Microsoft’s integrity. Once you’re on the line, they'll feign concern and guidance, before eventually transferring you to a “technician” who demands £129 to fix your so-called computer issues. At that moment, I firmly declined. I powered down my laptop and restarted it. I ran a sweep of my C drive using "CCleaner", which is free to download. All sorted, everything was back to normal!

I've come across what seems to be a potential scam involving Microsoft, claiming there's a malware issue. They urged me to ring this number straight away, or my computer would be at risk of shutting down. Quite alarming, really!
