I got a call that just dropped a voicemail with absolutely nothing on it.

Got a call from this number but didn't answer, instead checked the voicemail later. The message sounded as if it was from the government in Edmonton, Alberta, mentioning some kind of survey. The survey asked whether you think the Alberta NDP is heading in the right direction: press "1" if yes, "2" if no. But when you press "2", it just hangs and doesn't go anywhere. Honestly, can’t believe they can’t even get a simple automated survey working properly. Ridiculous.

Answered the call and they immediately hung up. When I tried ringing back, it just switched to some voicemail thing, but I couldn’t really understand what was being said.

Sounds like it could be a marketing company behind it. Maybe you gave them your number when you answered some survey once, which is probably why they keep ringing.
