I dialled the number and found out it belongs to a legitimate business. They informed me they couldn’t disclose the social security number on file until I confirmed the last four digits. Curiously, I inquired about the age of the debt, and to my astonishment, they were cross-referencing my state against the current statute of limitations list. The representative went on to clarify that they are quite a new establishment and are properly registered with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, with plans to register with the Better Business Bureau soon. They proposed a manageable monthly payment plan. I’m seriously considering just settling this frustrating bill and putting it all behind me.
