I rang the number and found out it’s a genuine business. They told me they couldn’t give me the Social Security info on record until I confirmed the final four digits. When I asked about how old the debt was, I was actually quite surprised because they checked my state against the current statute of limitations. The rep mentioned their company is pretty new but they’ve already signed up with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and are planning to register with the Better Business Bureau soon. They also suggested a small monthly payment plan. I’m thinking I might just pay off the annoying debt and move on.
