A caller claiming to be from eBay rang me up and oddly wanted my date of birth and where I lived 20 years back, plus my current phone and address. Honestly, asking for old addresses right off the bat sounded really dodgy, even if it was just a scammer.

Got a call from this number and it turned out to be eBay customer support. Seems like a genuine line, possibly connecting their call centres across the US, Dublin, and Manila because I've ended up chatting with reps from all these places through it.

Since eBay's now managing payments directly, this number probably handles related queries as well.

Some folks mentioned getting silent calls, but I guess that's because it's an automated system ringing out first. There’s usually a short pause after you pick up before a real person joins in since the system initiates the call, not a live agent right away.

I thought I was speaking with eBay support at first, but after checking this site and seeing that it’s often a PayPal scam, I’m pretty sure that’s what it was. I reached out because I’d just sold something on eBay, and it kept saying payment was still pending, yet further down the page it said the buyer had already paid??? This all happened when I was trying to set up a PayPal account. The person on the line was a woman with an accent that didn’t sound local. So annoying! I’m someone who always tries to be honest and respectful to everyone, thinking others would do the same. Guess I’m just too trusting for this day and age.

I requested a callback from eBay and got a nice bloke ringing me on this number. He already knew who I was and what I was calling about. After a quick chat where he answered my usual question, I noticed a note about my query had appeared on my eBay account not long after. Turns out, it really was eBay!

Had a run-in with eBay yesterday over a buyer issue. Then, out of nowhere, got a call late tonight around 10pm and there was total silence on the other end. Honestly, it felt pretty odd and now I’m a bit uneasy about it.

I called what I thought was eBay but ended up speaking to this bloke who then phoned me back from three different numbers: first 020 8080 2164, then 18015451800, and later from a mobile. When I told him I wasn’t happy and asked to be passed on to someone else, he said that all the operators were busy. Got fed up and just hung up. After that, he called me again twice, but from two different numbers.

I recently received an email claiming I owed £239.86 to eBay, which seemed odd because I only set up my account and listed my item on 21st February 2017 - just five days earlier! The invoice supposedly covered usage from January to February 2017, but I’d never sold anything, especially since the item was a £5 note with an AA serial number. So, how could they charge me that much? I immediately contacted my bank to cancel my card, alerted their fraud team and even informed the police. Then I got a call from 001 801 545 1800, with a woman named Amey from customer service who claimed to be from the UK. The accent didn’t sound British, more oriental American, plus 001 is a US code! She told me the £239.86 charge was reversed and there was no outstanding balance. Honestly, I’m just off to the pub now to drown my worries in a pint and forget about this nonsense! Cheers to everyone.

I got a call from this number, which apparently is based in Midvale, UT, asking me to confirm that I’m a real person selling stuff on eBay. They wanted my username and email address. I told them I didn’t recognise the number and that I’d ring back using the official number from eBay’s website. They said they were just making sure the account was legit and wanted to verify I was the one listing the items. I rang eBay straight away, and they told me that they had no record of any contact like that on their system. They said they wouldn’t ask for that info over the phone. They managed to block the caller from accessing my eBay profile and suggested I get in touch with Paypal to check if my account had been hacked or something.
