Phone number ☎️ 8009592250 👆 is reported as a number associated with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Debt Management Call Centre, primarily for personal income tax collections. While some users confirm it is a legitimate CRA contact, many warn of sophisticated scams involving callers posing as CRA agents demanding personal information like date of birth, home address, or Social Insurance Number (SIN). The CRA itself advises never to provide SIN over unsolicited calls and recommends verifying by calling official CRA numbers listed on the government website. Genuine CRA calls typically ask only to confirm basic details and advise contacting them via official channels. Users share that scammers may mimic CRA call procedures, including automated prompts, to deceive. Caution, independent verification, and avoiding giving out sensitive info to unsolicited callers is strongly advised.

I had a rather unsettling encounter where the caller incessantly insisted that she could only converse with my husband and requested that I have him ring back, providing his National Insurance number. I firmly declined, maintaining that if HMRC truly needed to speak with him, they would have contacted him directly. She claimed they didn’t have his number and asked me if I could supply it. However, I'm well aware that the genuine HMRC already possesses his details. It was completely dubious, and when I made it clear I was onto their ruse, she abruptly disconnected the call.

This number belongs to the CRA's collections team. It's definitely not a scam! I rang up the CRA immediately after receiving the call, and they're entirely above board. I'm baffled by so many folks on here claiming otherwise. If you're ever unsure, just reach out directly to them rather than relying on a quick Google search!

Indeed, I too received a call from this number. The woman on the line was exceedingly courteous and appeared rather professional. Her command of English was impressively high, which made me momentarily question whether she could indeed be a fraudster. She proceeded to ask for my phone number and date of birth; however, I firmly declined, telling her I would ring back to verify if she was genuinely representing the CRA. She repeated the same number, so I dialled it myself, only to be met with a recorded message from a collections agency. A quick search on Google subsequently revealed that this number is associated with scams. I intend to wait for her to ring me again out of curiosity. I also had a word with my accountant, who concurred that it’s likely a scam.

I just had a right peculiar phone call from a woman claiming to be from the CRA. She was asking for my home address and date of birth. When I asked for her address and DOB in return, she hung up without a second thought. It's rather alarming how convincing she sounded-very articulate, in fact. It seems they’re getting a bit savvier with these scams. Just a word of caution, keep your wits about you!

I had a call just a short while ago, around 6:00 pm. The woman on the line was quite eager to extract my personal details. She mentioned that the CRA operates until half past eleven at night, which instantly raised a red flag for me. It was clear this was a scam.

I received a call from the number 18009592250, but I decided not to pick up at that moment. The caller left a voicemail claiming to be from Cra Collections, though I struggled to make out what she was saying due to her heavy accent. She advised me to ring back and have my National Insurance number at the ready to verify my account. It seems odd that they wouldn’t already possess that information. Sounds like a scam to me! Definitely not returning that call.

I received a call on my mobile from an individual speaking with a distinct East Indian accent, inquiring about my husband. I promptly informed them that they had dialled the wrong number. THIS NUMBER IS GENUINE, IT REALLY IS THE CRA!!!

At first, I received a call from this number, and the person claimed to be from the CRA. I stumbled upon this site and, thinking I was in the right, decided to ignore all subsequent calls. Fast forward a couple of months, and I found my wages being docked and my bank account frozen. I reached out to my bank, who advised me to contact the CRA. They confirmed that they place calls from 1-800-959-2250 AND 1-800-863-8657 for collections.

I urge you to give them a ring if you don’t want to find yourself in a predicament like mine!

I've been inundated with calls from this number, so much so that I've had to block them entirely! Yet, they still manage to leave me voicemails. In a fit of annoyance, I unblocked the number and picked up when they rang again, asserting that I wanted the police to come and arrest me over my supposed debt to the tax office. Their response was incredibly impolite, and when they realised they had no power over me, they blustered something about sending a message, which of course, never arrived. And lo and behold, they’re at it again! Honestly, there must be a way to put a stop to these nuisances!

I received a call from someone speaking French, which threw me off a bit as I'm not fluent in the language. After I mentioned my lack of French skills, they switched to English but not in the friendliest manner. They insisted on speaking with the owner of the number they dialled. I simply asked who they were trying to reach, and they mentioned my name, claiming they were from the CRA and that I had an unpaid balance of some sort. I found it rather amusing, as it’s clear the CRA doesn't operate like that-calling up randomly to demand payment. Plus, it turns out they had dialled the wrong number. Just to clarify, I have no debts with the CRA at all!

It turns out I was mistaken regarding this call. It came from the collections department at the CRA, which is legitimate. Initially, I thought my account had a zero balance and was sceptical about the authenticity of the call. However, after a conversation with someone at the CRA a month prior-who now conveniently denies giving me incorrect information-I got the wrong balance that I subsequently paid off. Evidently, that's the reason they reached out to me again. So, just to clarify, this number is indeed genuine and not a scam.

Today, I received a call from 18009592250. The person on the other end was a woman who greeted me with a rather jumbled bilingual introduction-her French was so poorly pronounced that it was clear she wasn’t from Canada. She mentioned my name and insisted she wanted to chat with me. I declined, expressing my doubts about her being affiliated with the tax office. She persisted in trying to engage me, but I eventually hung up and found my way to this site to verify my hunch. Job done, cheers!

I believe the number was either 1800 or 1888, something along those lines. It’s predominantly a customer service hotline. To be honest, I tend to overlook it. If it’s genuinely from any of my organisations or the CRA, they’ll generally leave a message should they truly wish for me to return the call, especially if I’ve reached out to them previously for information.
7 years
Ultimately, if you have tax liabilities and fail to settle them, the CRA isn’t obliged to ask you before they retrieve what’s owed. You can either investigate whether that number is genuine or simply disregard it altogether, but be prepared for the possibility of seeing your funds vanish from your account.

This telephone number belongs to the CRA's T1 income tax department. If you're looking for another way to get in touch, you can also ring 1 888 863 8657; it links to the same office. You can locate this number on the official CRA website.

Had a ring from this number which seemed quite genuine, yet I didn't engage with the individual for too long. I made it clear that I'd prefer to return the call myself. I received a call from them yesterday, and they jumped straight in, claiming they needed to verify my identity with some security questions before informing me that the call was being recorded for quality assurance. It seemed to be a young woman from Canada on the line, quite courteous, mind you, asking for my date of birth. I politely declined and requested a number to get back to her. A quick look at the website revealed that the number was flagged as a scam. She wanted me to confirm my personal details but wouldn't spill the beans on why she had called until I verified my identity. Naturally, I decided against calling her back. If the tax office really wants to reach out, they can do it through proper mail.

I’ve been receiving calls from this number for the last fortnight. Finally, today I decided to answer. Earlier, I had contacted the CRA to verify whether there was any legitimate reason for them to reach out to me. The representatives, for both personal and business matters, assured me that everything appeared perfectly fine with my account. So, when the same number rang again, I informed the woman on the line that I wouldn’t disclose any information without verifying her affiliation with the CRA. She claimed to be from CRA collections and advised me to check their website for the phone number 18009592250 and call back once I confirmed its legitimacy. Taking her advice, I did just that, only to find that the number wasn’t listed anywhere on the CRA site. Clearly a scam!

The number seems to be genuine, but the representatives I've dealt with raise some flags. I have a hunch it might be linked to some sort of private business arrangement. They requested details about my bank branch and provided some dubious information about my account. In fact, one agent mistakenly halted my payment plan, and when I attempted to sort it out later, I found myself in a right pickle. It's a bit concerning what sort of personal information these agents might be mishandling or misappropriating. To top it off, they don’t even bother to introduce themselves properly!

I received a rather peculiar phone call from a bloke claiming to be with GOC GRC, the number being 1800-931-1026. He was after my husband, but the line was atrocious - a right muddle of static and interference. When I probed him about the purpose of the call, he was rather evasive and didn’t want to share any specifics. I pointed out that without knowing the details, I couldn’t very well pass a message along. They insisted they couldn’t discuss it with me and preferred that my husband ring them back on 1800-959-2250. I thought I’d cut to the chase and mentioned that I could provide them with my husband’s number directly, but then the chap just went silent and ended the call. It's worth noting that the CRA has our contact details on file if they need to get in touch.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be Mrs. Baptiste from the CRA collections department, who left a message requesting that a family member return her call. When we called back, a very professional woman asked for our Social Insurance Number to confirm our identity. However, she wouldn't disclose her agent number or name, which raised our suspicions. We declined to provide our info, and she directed us to visit cra.gc.ca to verify the call's legitimacy. It’s really crucial for the CRA to highlight such scams on their website to raise awareness. These con artists are clearly becoming more sophisticated and seem to have plenty of resources at their disposal for deceit rather than pursuing honest work. It’s quite disheartening to see.
