Just checked my voicemail and found a message from this dodgy number saying something about a hospital bill from Orlando, Florida. Thing is, I don’t live in Orlando nor have I ever been treated at any hospital down there, so I’m pretty sure this is just a scam.

This number has rung me up a bunch of times over the past week, like three times, and just got a call from it again today.

Back in January 2018, I received a dodgy bill from this firm. I checked with every single one of my doctors and confirmed that I didn’t owe anything at all. Then, come April 2nd the same year, I got a call from that exact number asking for the same money they were after before. I rang all my doctors again to make sure, and yep, accounts still showed nothing owed. I rang the number back and left a message telling them I knew they were scammers, then went ahead and reported the scam to the police under senior fraud.

This number rang me pretending to be from the billing department of my local hospital. They tried to get me to pay a debt they claimed I owed. Oddly enough, they knew about the original charge on my account but got the remaining amount wrong. They mentioned my husband had supposedly paid by cheque the day before, which lowered the balance. Before giving me any details, they asked for the number of my street, which I gave them. I double-checked with my husband, and he said he hadn’t written any cheque. Such a nasty scam. Seems like someone’s using hospital info to trick people into paying fake debts.
