Today, I had quite the experience with my iPad. When I rang up for assistance, they didn’t bother asking for my name - it was all very rushed, with the operative immediately diving into wanting my iPad model and serial numbers. I must admit, I felt a tad uneasy. They even put me on hold and had some rather uninspiring hold music playing. When the chap returned, his delivery of the information regarding supposed intrusions felt scripted, almost rehearsed. It left me feeling quite unsettled, so I decided to end the call. I can’t help but worry now that by providing those two identifiers, I might’ve unwittingly opened a door to my device’s security.

I can confirm this isn't a scam number. I encountered a similar situation myself and decided to give them a ring. They requested access to my computer, which I granted, and lo and behold, my machine is running significantly smoother now. I'm really grateful to them for sorting out all my problems! Cheers, everyone!

Hello everyone! I encountered a similar issue not long ago. What sorted it out for me was popping into the downloads directory and getting rid of a file named Mplayerx.dmg. Hope that helps!

I recently encountered a similar predicament. My Safari browser was suddenly rendered inoperable, and I was prompted to dial the number +18006804131. They guided me step by step to force quit and then hold the shift key while starting Safari again. Foolishly, I permitted them to access my computer remotely, but I had the good sense to halt their directives when they asked me to visit www.techstation247.com. I rebooted my computer, but now I’m genuinely concerned that they might have gained access to my personal information. Can anyone provide guidance on what steps I should take next?

I encountered a similar situation recently. When I dialled the number, I was greeted by a chap whose accent was a struggle to decipher. He then passed me on to another fellow who claimed to be under the weather, which apparently explained his garbled speech. This bloke insisted on accessing my computer for a fee of £100 to resolve my issues. Naturally, I declined, and he promptly terminated the call. Feeling rather frustrated, I decided to close Safari by force. After that, I navigated to my applications whilst holding down the command and shift keys simultaneously. This action brought up the dialogue box for my desktop drive (still keeping those keys pressed). I then double-clicked on the Safari icon, and lo and behold, it opened without any fuss. No more irritating prompts asking me to make that phone call! Plus, I managed to dodge that £100 charge in the process!

Today was a bit of a nightmare for me! I ended up in a right flap after receiving a call from some bloke who claimed he was taking over my Mac. I panicked and didn’t know what to do! I managed to tell him I was skint and couldn't pay, but now I’m absolutely on edge thinking they might have accessed my personal details. Does anyone know how I can alert Apple about this? I really need to get this sorted! 😟

So, here I am, in a right flap due to some daft moment on my part. I, in a panic over submitting a university assignment, inadvertently allowed access to my computer and my bank details. I quickly rang up my bank, and thankfully, they sorted me out with a new card. I decided to halt the whole shenanigan, as I plan to take my device to the Apple shop. They managed to erase everything they had downloaded while I was in a state of distress. At the moment, there are no charges on my card, just some pending transactions. Has anyone got any tips on what I should do next?

I suspect this might be a fraudulent operation. When I dialled the number 1800 680 4131, the individual on the other end claimed to represent Apple Support, but their command of English was quite poor. They requested my full name, and I opted to respond with a question of my own, asking them for their full name instead. Strangely enough, they cut the call short almost immediately. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Giving that number a ring is an absolute con! Don’t fall for it!

Apple really isn’t involved in this matter at all. From what I've encountered, it's merely a pop-up that necessitates shutting down Safari entirely to clear it away. If you navigate to Safari's settings, then head to the security tab and disable Javascript, you can prevent that pesky pop-up from recurring. Be mindful, though, because doing this will also disable certain functionalities on the websites you visit. I tend to run into this irritating page solely when I’m using uploaded.net for downloads. If I opt for alternative download services instead on the same webpage, I manage to sidestep the script altogether.

I received a rather similar notification. So, I decided to ring that 1-800 number. They took me through a rather tedious series of steps, which went a bit like this…

First, I was told to force quit Safari by clicking on the Apple logo in the upper left corner.
Then, whilst holding down the Shift key, I had to click on Safari to supposedly eliminate that annoying loop.
Next, I was instructed to reopen Safari, and lo and behold, no more of those pesky pop-up messages.

However, the next step involved visiting their site: www.techstation247.com to connect with one of their technicians and allow them remote access to my laptop. That was when I thought, 'hold on a minute', as I started to sense that this was likely some sort of scam.

A quick search on that phone number, 18006804131, led me to this blog post.

Massive thanks to whomever shared this info. It’s definitely worth flagging up to Apple.

I nearly got roped into purchasing a security software package for £199! The whole thing raised my suspicions, especially since I couldn’t quite grasp how they were linked to Apple. The alert popped up saying: "Safari - Alert Possible Suspected Activity Has Been Detected. Serious Security Concern To rectify this, please contact Apple Support +1 800-680-4131 (Toll-Free) at once!" Seems to me like a ploy to sell some dodgy software rather than any genuine help.

Close Safari from the tab at the top. Once you reopen it, you'll find it trying to load again. Be swift and hit that red circle to shut it down before it fully refreshes. If you allow it to finish loading, you'll just find yourself stuck in the same cycle again!

Fraud Alert Regarding the irritating warning from macsystemalerts.com that’s locking up Safari... You'll want to force quit the application. Simply press the command, option, and escape keys together all at once. Hold on a tick. Once the Force Quit window pops up, make sure Safari is highlighted. If not, click on it. Next, hit the Force Quit button at the bottom. Just hang tight for a moment - Safari should close down. Now, to get Safari back up and running, hold down the shift key as you relaunch it. Next up, you ought to disconnect from the internet. Click on the Wifi symbol in your menu bar and select “Turn Wifi off.” Try browsing to another website while offline. Once you're disconnected, go ahead and turn Wifi back on by clicking the icon again and selecting “Turn Wifi on.” Finally, reconnect to your desired network.

I received a rather alarming "Security Alert" notification connected to this number, leaving my screen completely frozen and insisting that I contact them straight away. They portrayed themselves as being part of the Apple support team. Naturally, I dialled the number to find out what was going on. A rather unprofessional chap answered, his accent thick enough to cut through butter, and introduced himself as "Chris". He bombarded me with a barrage of personal queries before declaring, "I will now remotely access your computer. What sort of security measures do you have in place?" Hold on a moment! Alarm bells were ringing, and I told him I wasn’t sure about that and that I would need to ring back. To my surprise, he didn’t even respond; he simply hung up on me.

These chaps are definitely dodgy. If your Safari has frozen on the macsystemalerts.com alert, take a look at this tip I picked up from the Apple forums-thanks, Dominic 23! It did the trick for me.

To resolve the Safari issue:

First off, you'll need to Force Quit it.
Simply press the command, option, and esc keys all at once. Give it a moment.
Once the Force Quit window pops up, select Safari if it’s not already highlighted.
Then hit the Force Quit button at the bottom. Just wait a little.
Safari should close down.

Next, fire up Safari again while holding down the shift key.

Also, ensure your Wi-Fi is off. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top menu and choose “Turn Wi-Fi off”.
Try browsing to another site.
Your internet connection will be down at this point.
Now, re-enable your Wi-Fi by clicking the icon again and selecting “Turn Wi-Fi on”.
Don’t forget to connect to your network!
