Usually, the tax office sends their requests through standard mail.8 yearsI received a rather unsettling call purportedly from the CRA, but the voice sounded distinctly robotic. They insisted it was their final effort to reach me concerning some pressing issue and even went so far as to threaten legal repercussions if I didn’t respond swiftly by ringing back on this number. A quick search revealed a plethora of reports about this number being involved in scams, not only impersonating the CRA. I'm immensely grateful to everyone who has flagged this - it’s a bit of a relief to know I’m not alone in this!8 yearsI received a couple of calls from this number-first at the crack of dawn, around six o’clock, then again just before lunch. Each time, it was a pre recorded message claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency, warning that this would be their final attempt to reach me before taking further steps.
