About six months back I got called by some bloke telling me my computer was hacked and I needed protection, so I ended up handing over around £200. The number was different, some Indian guy on the line. Then a few months after, same story popped up again and I just switched my computer off straight away. Yesterday, guess what? The exact same call from 18006427676. I yelled at him saying I’m already supposed to have protection. He went away, checked something, then rang me back saying I never should’ve paid Microsoft because it’s all scams. He said he’d try to get my money back, asked for my bank details and the bank’s name, which of course I didn’t give him. I’m quite old and not savvy with computers, just used to old calculators. The first time I paid was to some number starting with 8887785. Honestly, I want these numbers blocked but don’t really know how computers work. Feels wrong how older folks get targeted like this.

Some lady rang me up asking for Brenda, said "Congrats Brenda, you’ve won an $8,000 grant you don’t need to pay back." I was like, what? Stop with the rubbish and the scams! She insists “No,” but I told her if I gotta pay money to get this grant, it’s a scam right? Then she went silent and the call just dropped. I checked the number and it’s one of those you lot have listed. I dialled it again and got through to Microsoft, but the bloke didn’t speak much English and just transferred me around. No one there had a clue about this “grant” lady called about. It’s all a load of nonsense. SCAMMERS annoy me so much! And yes, my name’s Brenda G, if that matters. Oh, and she said it was from the US government too.

I got a pop-up on my screen claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my computer had problems. I've had similar warnings before and usually just restart my PC to fix it. This time, I tried the number they gave and spoke to someone called Robert Dsouza. He told me my computer was infected and there were issues with my firewall, offering to remotely access my computer for free as a Microsoft service. That didn’t sit right with me, so while he was still on the phone, I quickly shut down my laptop. Afterwards, I checked my firewall settings myself and found no problems at all. Once he asked to take over my machine, I immediately ended the call.

I got bombarded with more than a dozen calls all in one day, so I ended up blocking every single one. At one point, they even faked my own phone number! After a chat with Microsoft’s support online, I was given this number along with 18009365700. I had asked to speak with a real person about tech help. On the 10th of September, I got scammed - the scammers froze my computer. Once I realised what was happening, I rang Microsoft on 18775682495. Luckily, I got through to their tech team who stopped the scam, sorted the problem out, and gave me a reference number. The person helping me then shared the number 18006427676 to call if I faced any more issues. They never asked for money and mentioned I might get an email asking about my experience, which I did. So, from what I can tell, this seems to be a legitimate Microsoft support number.

After reaching out to Microsoft via their website live chat for help, I was provided with this number along with 18009365700. I specifically asked to speak to an actual person for technical support. On 10th September, I got scammed when my PC suddenly froze. Once I realised what happened, I rang Microsoft at 18775682495 and got put through to genuine tech support. They stopped the scammer’s actions, gave me a reference number, and sorted the problem out properly. Then, the tech specialist handed me the number 18006427676 for any further issues. No payment was requested, and I was told I might get a follow-up email asking for feedback on the support, which I did receive. So, I reckon this number is legit for contacting Microsoft.

This number rang me earlier today, but since it wasn’t familiar, I looked it up online and discovered it was linked to a scam. Apparently, falling for their tricks could cause serious problems. Luckily, I contacted my card provider straight away and flagged the suspicious charge. I also got in touch with the FCC to report the fraudulent call. After that, I rang Dell to check my laptop for any dodgy software that might have been installed during their call. These scammers keep switching numbers to get through, so now I’m blocking all unknown callers.

I got this bogus alert on my screen saying my computer was hacked and to ring their Microsoft support number to fix it. They somehow got control of my PC by showing fake Microsoft pop-ups that looked legit. Then they tried to push a deal on me - 3 years of protection for £400 and a lifetime plan for £700, all supposedly from Microsoft with fake passwords and details. They even asked to "add" family members and wanted my husband’s phone number, which immediately set off alarm bells. I refused and said no. After that, the bloke, who had an Indian accent, started acting all nervous and aggressive. He took over my computer proper, moving my mouse around himself - really terrified me. Such a dodgy scam, genuinely nasty fraud.

Someone told me it’s Microsoft tech support, but it seems like they’re based in India. I was chatting on Microsoft’s official site and was asked for my phone number for a follow-up call, and then, almost immediately, the call came through from a number in India. I’m not sure if this is legit or just a scam. Microsoft really needs to clear this up so people aren’t left second-guessing. If it’s truly from Microsoft, then I’ve got to admit the service seemed quite helpful.

Got a call saying it was about my computer, but I told them my computer's fine. Then the person just lost it and shouted some really awful things at me, like “screw you right in the...” It was so rude and unexpected.

Please, just don’t pick up if this number calls you.

Got a call from some bloke with an accent asking about my missus. When I asked who he was, he said he was with Microsoft and that my wife had bought a new computer. I asked for his address and he told me 11 Times Square. Definitely a dodgy scam. Then he started going on about whether I was really my wife’s husband or not.

My mum's a bit too trusting for her own good. Before she even rang me, they'd already got her phone number, hooked up to their computer, and started pressuring her to buy some $500 "firewall" thing that was only payable with Google gift cards.

I tried calling the number back, and it did say Microsoft on the other end, but then they mentioned that all the information would get sent abroad to a different country.

Someone just rang me from this number. It was a woman with a heavy accent asking to get into my computer. I told her to bugger off, and then she shouted "f*** you, a**hole" before hanging up.

I got a call from this number earlier, and a woman said someone sent me an email that I was supposed to open. Now I’m seeing loads of folks have already flagged this number. Honestly, it freaked me out a bit!

So, these scammers called me claiming they were from Microsoft Office. They said Microsoft had shut down and they were helping people get refunds. Then they told me that paper checks were no longer sent out since last week, and I had to pop into a nearby shop to buy a Google Play card. After that, I was supposed to ring them back with the card's 16-digit code, so they could add my refund to it. I just told them to forget the refund - I’m not losing money over some refund. Then a woman handed me over to her manager, who spoke with an Indian accent. He insisted they don’t keep anyone's cash, but I told him to keep it himself!

I haven't gotten any calls from these people, yet somehow my bank statement has a £59.99 charge linked to this number!

Got a call saying our computer was hacked and they wanted to know if we were by it. Mum couldn’t really hear them properly, but I caught on straight away from stuff I’d read before that it was dodgy. I grabbed the phone, told the bloke I’d be reporting him to the police, and he just cut off.

From what I can tell, this number genuinely belongs to Microsoft. You can check for yourself on Microsoft's Canadian support page here: "https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/28808/microsoft-store-contact-support". If anyone has faced any scams involving this number, it’s really important they alert Microsoft because it could mean their tech support lines are being misused. My experience was fine, but that doesn’t guarantee others aren’t experiencing problems. So if you suspect foul play, definitely make sure to report it.

I told them maybe their number should be 1800 SCAMMERS instead, and guess what? They just hung up on me. So funny!

This scam has been around for ages, at least five years or so. It's pretty shocking that Microsoft hasn’t managed to nip this in the bud, given how long these scammers have been at it. They somehow get hold of personal info and then pretend to fix your computer by remotely accessing it, only to demand an eye-watering fee to "remove viruses". I got called twice in one day by a guy with a strong accent. I let the second call go through just to see what was up, but all I heard was silence for almost a minute, apart from some voices in the background. Eventually, the bloke came on, struggled with pronouncing my name, claimed my account was at risk, and asked if I was by my PC. When I said no, the line went dead for about half a minute. Then he came back and repeated the whole spiel again. That’s when I just ended the call.

I got a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft, telling me my computer had a virus. Then they tried to charge me $199 to sort it out. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

This number's rung me up a few times, but I always let it go to voicemail. As soon as they catch my recorded message, they seem to just drop the call.

This has to be a total scam. They kept ringing me up, claiming loads of spam emails were sent from my Yahoo account and pretending to be from Microsoft. The bloke on the phone had a really strong Indian accent. He already had my name and email, which freaked me out a bit. I mentioned that I don’t even use that email anymore, then he went on about my home Wi-Fi being hacked and insisted I get onto my laptop so he could sort it out over the phone. When I didn’t play along, he just got annoyed and hung up.

This number has rung me 4 times within just 3 hours. I haven’t picked up any of the calls so far. Does anyone know how to report these annoying calls? Also, what’s the best way to block the number?

Dont bother answering these calls, its a total rip off! Microsoft only rings you up if you’re the one who got in touch with them first. So yeah, just hang up straight away!

I was on the Microsoft account page and decided to try this chat service to get some help with my issue. The guy I spoke to was really kind and offered to sort out my payment problems, asking if he could take my card details - apparently they’d been charged without me realising. Seemed proper helpful and maybe legit, but I thought I’d better check out his phone number, which turned out to be this one. Just to be safe, I cancelled my card right away. You can’t be too careful these days.
