6 yearsI've received a dodgy call purporting to be from the collection department of San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), threatening to disconnect my electricity within an hour unless I settled my outstanding payments. The chap on the other end identified himself as John Givens and was supposedly at extension 103 on the number 800-559-0697. Initially, they rang me from 619-694-8273. When I tried to clarify that I'd already made payments, they then suggested I initiate an investigation to track where my payments had gone. However, they insisted that during this so-called investigation, which would take around 3 to 4 days, I had to fork out another payment to keep my service uninterrupted. They even promised that if it turned out they were mistaken, they'd refund my payment and offer a 35% discount for the next six months.
