Someone called me about a 3 month trial for the HD Extra Pack, channels 565-573. They mentioned I just had to ring back on that same number to cancel before 20/01/19. The person had a strong foreign accent and kept going over the same deal like they were stuck on a script.

I got the same call just today, with the exact same spiel. They claimed to be from Directv offering some deal for £59.99 a month plus a £100 Visa card, all made possible by pushing eBay vouchers. They wanted me to pay £300 upfront, gave me a promo code and said to ring the billing department before 9pm. They rang back twice at 7:33 and 7:35, but each time no one answered. I did a bit of digging and luckily found this info before I dialled them back. I've blocked the number now.

I ended my contracts with both DirecTV and ATT, but they keep ringing me up every day for the last four days saying I’ve got some old bills to pay. Also, the PS on their calls told me to keep my credit card handy before I ring back. Seems like a complete rip-off to me.

Today, this number rang me three times and the person on the line had a foreign accent. They somehow had my DirecTV details and tried to sell me a special deal with all channels if I bought a $300 E-Bay gift card and phoned them back before 9pm. I checked with DirecTV and CenturyLink who confirmed it was definitely a scam. Later, about 7:30pm, they phoned again saying they were waiting for the payment and knew I still hadn’t sent it. Back on 10 May 2018 around 1:40 in the afternoon, this guy named Steven rang me claiming to be from Direct TV and told me I was eligible for some exclusive offer. When I asked him to email me the details so I could check it out properly, he just sighed heavily and suddenly ended the call.

Got a call claiming to be from AT&T, saying they could save me a hundred quid a month on TV, phone, and internet compared to my current bills. They said I could keep my CenturyLink landline and my existing number too. Then they asked for my credit card details to cover a £7 activation fee - I told them no way I’d give my card over the phone. Then a guy called Zack popped up as their ‘supervisor’ and started pushing hard, telling me to ring AT&T on 845 640 0011 and giving a badge number 8041 like that would prove anything. By that point, I’d already got this website open and just hung up.

My mum was duped by a call from this exact number. She got a call saying that DirecTV would cut down her monthly bill if she sent in a £300 Amazon gift card. They then gave her a different phone number to ring so she could ‘submit’ the gift card’s PIN. So, she went and bought the £300 Amazon card, rang that new number and gave them the code. After about a week or two, that same number, 1800-531-5000, started phoning her again. She picked up and was once more offered some “discount” from DirecTV. My mum decided to ignore it and instead rang up the genuine DirecTV customer service. A woman on the line confirmed there weren’t any deals or promos at all with them. Then, on Friday the 13th, 10/13/17, that dodgy number kept calling her all morning every 15 to 30 minutes. She ignored most of them until a male friend of hers answered one call, but the caller stayed completely silent. This whole mess really annoys me - my mum got scammed out of £300 just like that.

Received a call claiming to be from DirecTV/AT&T/Amazon. They said if I paid for two months upfront, they’d knock down my monthly DirecTV bill. Supposedly, Amazon’s backing this deal as some sort of “awareness” campaign for their gift cards. Bit of a laugh, really. They did try to sound legit, but the whole gift card story plus the fake DirecTV number they gave me to ring back (888-697-0515, which I found out is linked to credit card scams) raised alarm bells. If this was genuine, I don’t think DirecTV cares how you pay or would just call you out of the blue with a discount! They usually want to keep your payment coming for as long as they can. Just trust your instincts when things don’t add up!

Beware, this is definitely a scam call - Direct TV confirmed it. My partner was on the phone for about 20 minutes with someone who promised to slash our bill from £181 a month down to just £59. Then they asked us to pay £300 upfront on an Amazon gift card, saying it covered the first five months. My partner got suspicious and rang Direct TV straight away, who told us it’s a trick. The scammers spoof the official Direct TV 0800 number on caller ID to make it look legit, but it’s just a con. Don’t get caught out - just hang up! These people are fraudsters!

Got a call from someone using a fake Direct TV number, trying to trick me into paying for five months early to get a discount on my bill. Total scam!

I kept getting calls, and when I finally picked up, the person on the other end was shouting in some language I couldn’t understand at all.

On Thanksgiving, I got hit with about 8 calls from them. I picked up just once, told them straight up I’m not interested in any sales calls. Still, they kept ringing me back over and over. Proper annoying.

I've had this number ringing my phone all day without stopping. When I picked up, the caller claimed to be from Direct TV but then started swearing at me. It's so annoying! How on earth did they manage to get hold of my name and number? So frustrating! 😠

Had a call from someone saying they were from Direct TV, trying to get me to give out details to "locate" my account. They insisted they couldn’t find it without the specific numbers from my receiver box. Felt really dodgy to me, like a scam trying to get info.
