Over the last couple of days, I’ve received calls from two numbers that looked like they belonged to Scotiabank (1-800-472-6842 and 1-888-267-1609). They asked me for my full credit card details, including the expiry date and CVV, which instantly felt dodgy. I rang Scotiabank myself, and they told me there were no transactions or outgoing calls logged on my card at those times. Seems like these fraudsters are using some kind of number spoofing trick to pretend they’re from the bank. I’ve reported this to Scotiabank and strongly recommend others do the same. Stay safe out there!

They told me I was eligible for a prepaid card, so I went ahead and got one.

This number rang me and showed up as Scotiabank, claiming they were from the Fraud team. They said there were suspicious purchases made on my cards in Pak*stan and tried to get my details. They even mentioned some recent transactions I’d made, which freaked me out. Heads up, this is definitely a scam - they even phoned my husband too, so watch out!

Someone keeps phoning me saying they're from the fraud team at Scotiabank, but it's not true at all. They constantly ring every day, trying to get my card details and SIN. The real fraud department would never ask for stuff like that. It’s pretty obvious they’re trying to scam me.

Got an email saying it was from Scotiabank, but looked dodgy - think it's a scam.

My mum, who just turned 95 and only recently got this phone, got an Interac e-transfer for $750 from someone she barely knows. Not many people have her number, so it's quite strange. Watch out everyone, these scammers are always coming up with new tricks to steal your cash. They're clever and never run out of sneaky ideas.

I got this number from the RCMP to either file a fraud report or to check if I’ve been scammed. But after looking at all the reviews and complaints, I’m honestly confused about what the real deal is... not sure if I should trust it or not.

Somebody claiming to be from Microsoft got on a call with me and tricked me into letting them control my laptop, saying they were just trying to help.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from Scotia Bank, saying my account got closed cause of fraud, like all my savings and current were drained and even my credit was maxed out. I told them straight away, first, I got limits on my accounts so nothing could be wiped out that fast. Second, there's no way theyd ring me the same day, usually it takes a couple of business days to get a call like that. And third, I live literally next door to the branch - no joke, like a minute walk tops - so if there was a problem I would just pop in and sort it there. Plus, I was logged into my online banking right then and everything was fine. So I said cheers, have a nice day, and told them the call was being recorded and traced. They hung up and never called back - just a load of bloody scammers trying it on.

My aunt got tricked by someone pretending to be from Microsoft tech support. They convinced her to cough up £250 for supposedly 7 years of access to a support number. Such total cheats.

Got an email saying I was charged £200 on my bank credit card, and it even named the shop where it supposedly happened. Weird thing is, I actually was at that petrol station and used my credit card, but only spent about £40. I looked at my bank account after and thankfully, no £200 charge was made.

Got this message saying my payment went through and to ring a number if I didn’t know about it. Just putting it out there to warn folks, this is definitely a scam. I blocked the number straight away.

I've been getting calls from someone saying I own a card from Scotia Bank, and they told me my card was used to withdraw money from my Scotia account. It's really worrying because I never authorised anything like that!
