I keep getting calls from the number 1-800-465-2422, which is supposedly CIBC’s main line in Canada, but I’m pretty sure these calls aren’t legit. They ring about an account I shut down nearly two years ago. I closed my CIBC account fully, yet these calls keep coming through, and I believe scammers have hijacked that phone number to make it look real. CIBC doesn’t seem to be addressing the issue or warning customers, probably because if word got out, a lot of people might rush to close their accounts like I did. Got a call on a Friday evening around 7:35. I ignored it and figured I'd wait to see if any voicemail popped up, but nothing was left. The number said it was from CIBC, but because they didn’t bother to leave a message, I was a bit suspicious and didn’t trust it.

If you flip your CIBC card over, you'll see the phone number listed there - it's definitely the same one. So yeah, the call was for real.
