Got a call from a woman with a Chinese accent, she asked for me by name. Mentioned something about CPP and needed my mum's maiden name to move forward. When I asked what it was about, she wouldn’t say. She told me I could ring 18002779914 or visit a Service Canada office in person when they’re open if I didn’t want to talk on the phone.

Oi, I've been getting calls from this number 778 233 4527, and the person claims to be from Service Canada wanting to discuss my husband's CCP. When I asked some questions, she mentioned there's loads of scams out there, so she understood why I was sceptical about their legitimacy. In the end, I told her to just send something in writing and I'd handle it from there. She gave me a toll-free number, 1 800 277 9914, and then just hung up on me.

It’s mad how these lot managed to grab my details from the government when I was trying to sort out my CPP and pension stuff. Either some clever hackers are at work or someone from the inside is helping them out. I get the RCMP are trying their hardest, but honestly, I’m fed up with all these scams popping up every single week. And I’m not just talking about me - even my mates are getting hit too.

I got this automated call supposedly from Service Ontario, warning about some fraud connected to my "social security number." What really caught me off guard was how it started by saying they were "handling your social security number renewal" or something like that. The weird thing is, I recently had to get my social insurance number reinstated after being abroad and out of work for years. But thinking about it, Service Ontario wouldn’t be the ones dealing with federal stuff like SIN, right? It was clearly a scam, the caller ID was faking a legit number. Actual government offices usually send letters, ask you to visit an office in person, or to log into a secure GCKey website. They never call you out of the blue like that. Watch out and don’t fall for these scams!

I've been getting calls from this number for ages, on and off. They leave this weird robotic voicemail about some fraud issues and tell me to press one for details. Out of curiosity, I rang the number back, and it turned out to be the real Canadian Pension Plan! I have no clue why they're using this number, but after seeing loads of similar complaints online, I'm convinced it's a scam. Please, someone do something about these scammers!

I got a few calls today from someone claiming to be an officer, kept saying there was some crime linked to my social security number. They left messages and I was told to look up the number online, which I did, and of course it’s all scam warnings everywhere. Don’t really get what they wanted with me, but they finished off by threatening that someone would come to my house to harm me. Pretty creepy tbh.

I kept missing calls from this number all day, about four times, so eventually I decided to answer. As soon as I picked up, the recording told me to press "1" if I wanted to talk to an officer. I did press "1" and then the person on the other end asked for my first and last name. I told him that since he was calling me, he could probably work out who I was himself. He immediately accused me of being a criminal, saying that only criminals wouldn’t give their details. That was it for me - I hung up straight away. Since then, I’ve ignored more than five calls from that number today. Seriously, don’t bother with it.

I found like 7 missed calls from this number when I woke up, they even left 3 voicemails. The voice on the messages sounded like some kind of robot. What annoys me the most is sometimes my phone never rings at all and just sends the call straight to voicemail. Really stressful and kind of worrying, to be honest.

I've put this number on my block list but it keeps finding a way through. My phone doesn't actually ring but I keep getting voicemails with that same scary message about my National Insurance number like others have mentioned. Just like the others have said, these lot said they were calling from Service Canada’s legal department. They told me I’m gonna be hauled off to federal court and arrested over some problem with my SIN. Then they asked me to press 1 to chat with a sheriff. They kept ringing me up, saying I was involved in some income tax fraud and that I’d be sent to prison. I told them my accountant handles all that stuff and that I’d report them to the police. After that, they swore at me and just ended the call.

Does anyone know if complaining about this number will actually get authorities involved and put an end to it? I got a weird message twice in a single day, telling me my National Insurance number was involved and to press "1" or I'd be arrested on some fake charges. Had a quick search of the number online and it turns out it's a legit government line linked to OAS. Seems like they're probably faking the number with some kind of bot to show up on caller ID though.

I just got a call from this number, with an automated message claiming to be Service Canada. They said something about my SIN and told me to call back to avoid any legal trouble. Being suspicious, I pressed 1 to talk to someone, expecting it to be a scam. A woman answered saying "Service Canada, how can I assist you?" I told her about the call, and she asked if I knew what was said. I replied with disbelief and she immediately hung up. It's terrible that scammers use a number like this pretending to be official. I wouldn’t be surprised if lots of people have fallen for it. Something really needs to be done to stop this nonsense!

I got a call from this number today as well. Just out of curiosity, I pressed 1. A man who said his name was William Wyld answered, but his English was really hard to understand. I asked what the call was about, and he claimed there was some fraud on my SIN number. When I asked who he was trying to reach and which SIN he was talking about, he got aggressive and told me to "shut up" before hanging up. Pretty sketchy if you ask me.

I just got a call from Service Canada. Apparently, sometimes the post gets delivered to the wrong place, and when that happens, the mail is returned to them. That’s why they were ringing me up - to make sure my address is correct. So yeah, that’s why they phoned today.

This number just called my 92-year-old mum claiming they didn’t have her up-to-date address and said they couldn’t send any more CPP or OAS payments until she gave it to them. They told her they were “too busy” to deal with it at that moment and said she had to ring back before 8:30am next day or the payments would stop completely. She rang me about it, so I looked it up and quickly realised it was a scam. I reckon if she’d called back, they’d have tried to get her SIN details too.
