So I first tried reaching out to Direct Energy, but turns out, this isn’t their number. Then I phoned back and found out it’s actually Enercare's number. I double-checked with Enercare, and they confirmed it’s theirs. When I spoke to their customer service on 1-855-255-5458, they assured me they’d remove my phone from their marketing calls list. I’ve never been their client, so this was just a random cold call. Fingers crossed the rep sorts it quickly, cause I keep getting all these silent voicemails from them every day, even after blocking the number. It’s really getting on my nerves.

I use apps on my phone, both on Android and I guess on iPhones too, that help me spot or block spam calls. Whenever an unknown number rings me, I usually Google it to see who it might be. If I find out it’s just another spam call, I save the number under a contact called SPAM. That way, when they call again, I instantly see it and can just ignore it. I've got about 30 numbers saved like this now.

These calls are from VoIP sources, basically voice over internet protocol, mostly coming outta pak*stan and India. What they do is steal legit phone numbers and try to scam people that way. Funny thing is, the CRTC says since it’s VoIP, they can’t really do much about it?! That strikes me as weird, especially with all the security measures our useless government - both liberals and conservatives - has put in place supposedly to watch over us. I’ve been tracking these numbers down, and when I get the chance, I leave a fake number back on their voicemail. Sorta like giving them a taste of their own medicine or being an annoyance to these scammers. Since these folks aren’t legit, they can’t really complain or report you, so maybe take the chance to mess with them a bit. Cheers!

It’s honestly so frustrating to keep getting calls from direct energy, and they border on being downright pushy! We’ve received loads of calls from 1-800-266-3639 and they never bother to leave a voice message. Because the caller ID doesn’t say who it is, we just ignore the number. No proper company would ring you up that many times and not even say who they are in a message. It feels pretty sneaky of them. Just tonight, I went through my phone records from as far back as February 20, 2017, and saw calls from 1-800-266-3639 to our landline on Feb 21 at 3.45pm, Feb 22 at 6.36pm, Feb 24 at 12.11pm and again on Feb 27 at 5.20pm. We were so annoyed after all these calls that I finally googled the number and found out it’s DIRECT ENERGY. The only thing we have with DIRECT ENERGY is a rented water heater, so these calls are just pointless hassle. Honestly, this company’s tactics are rubbish and they need to be called out for this sort of behaviour!
