I saw this number pop up on a telly ad for one of those free contests.

I got a message from 78070 saying I’d signed up for some ‘daily subscription service 78070_horses’ but I never asked for any of it! The text also said to quit it, just text ‘stop 78070_horses’ to 84142. I’m not sure if I should just leave it alone or if replying could get me tangled up with them more. Feels better to avoid contact with these lot, honestly.

this reeks of dodgy tactics, just like you’d expect from those mobile providers! totally not on!

Seems like a scam number. Best not to reply or text them back.

It's kinda funny actually, I spotted this number in an ad for The Economist earlier this evening where they said you could get a free issue if you texted it. But after looking into it, seeing the history of the number and how it's marked online as a premium rate one, it got me thinking. The Economist just mentions that charges depend on your provider, which is pretty vague and not really clear at all. Makes me wonder if that "free" copy really is free.

I was hit with a 40p fee for every call from this number, which showed up on my bill as not included in my plan. Had no idea about these charges until I saw my statement.
