So I’m currently in China and got a call from +86-2151906866 out of nowhere, then almost immediately got another call from a number based in LA. When I picked up, both were silent. What’s really odd is that they also rang my Taiwan phone, which I only just switched back on after months of it being off. They called within a minute of me turning it on, which felt a bit fishy. Honestly, I’m convinced these calls are linked to some kind of Chinese monitoring.

Last night I got a call from this number too. It turns out it’s connected to Windows 8.1. When you first set up that version of Windows, it makes you create a new Windows ID. To verify you’re not some bot, they send out a code. You can pick to get the code via text rather than a call, which is what I did, but even then I still got a phone ring anyway. Bit annoying if you ask me.
