Upon picking up, both were silent-no one uttered a word. To make things even more peculiar, they were simultaneously trying to reach my Taiwan number, which I had just reactivated after a long hiatus. It was astonishing how quickly they called-just a minute after I switched the number back on. I can’t shake this feeling that these calls might be linked to some kind of surveillance operation from China. Quite bizarre, if you ask me!

I just got a call from a number linked to MSN, claiming they were providing me with some sort of digit codes for my Hotmail account. They mentioned I’d need these codes to access my account. I'm utterly fed up with these pesky spam calls! They seem to ring me at the most inconvenient times, trying to coax me to hop on my computer and unwittingly install their nasty malware and viruses.

I experienced something similar just last night. It turns out that this particular number is associated with Windows 8.1. When you first boot up this version of Windows, it prompts you to establish a new Windows ID. To verify your identity as a genuine user and not some bot, you have to enter a code. You can opt to have this code sent via text rather than receiving a voice call. I selected the text option, yet bizarrely enough, I still ended up getting a phone call!
