I had a rather unsettling phone call on the 3rd of October, 2017, from a number originating in Vauxhall, Alberta. The caller claimed to be with Rev Canada and insisted that I was in dire straits, urging me to return the call immediately or face consequences. It felt like the weight of the world was on me; frankly, the tone he employed was disconcertingly menacing, yet he maintained a calmness that made it all the more creepy. I wasn't able to catch the name he mentioned, as it all unfolded rather quickly, but his accent suggested he hadn't grown up in Canada. It felt almost scripted; there was no opportunity for me to engage in a conversation, which left me feeling quite uneasy.
