60 076 MOT reminder is a COMPLETE RIP OFF! I just saw I got charged £10 just for getting a text from this dodgy company. I’m going to ring Three and try to get my money back. How are they still pulling this off? There are complaints going back to January 2017!

I had exactly the same issue. The number belongs to sure stream digital who billed me without permission. I looked them up on their site: [##]surestreamdigital[###] and found this email: [email protected][###] I got in touch and told them I never signed up for any service. Of course, they initially denied it but in the end they refunded the full £10, which covered the £8.33 plus the added tax! They sent me a text with a code to collect the money from a post office, and I went today to pick it up. So it’s all above board and I even got £10 cash back!

Had the exact same problem, and I’m pretty sure I never actually signed up for this service since I am usually quite cautious about the sites I go on. That said, I’ve got to give credit to THREE customer support - they were really helpful, managed to cancel the service for me and even gave me back the £10, which they didn’t have to do. It’s shocking that companies like this are allowed to keep running. UK service providers ought to step in and block stuff like this.

I got caught out by these guys as well. They’ve switched the phone number you call to get your cash back, it’s now 0808 178 5349. All you have to do is say you want a refund under the 14 day cooling off rule. They’ll text you saying you’ll get another message within a couple of days from the post office. From what I’ve read in other comments, this looks genuine and you actually go to the PO to pick up your refund. According to Companies House, a Simon Mark Bennet is listed as a Director. Checking up, he might be the same Simon Bennett who was declared bankrupt back in 2015.

Looked over my bills today and spotted a £10 fee from 700074074. I've never phoned the DVLA, only used their website on my computer, and there's nothing on their site about any charges like this. I spotted a £10 fee on my bill too - really frustrating. I’d never agree to any extra charges, so this feels like a proper scam. When I rang Virgin Media customer service, they were quite helpful and said it’s a known problem. Something definitely needs to be done about these scammers. You would think mobile networks could block dodgy operators from charging customers if there was some kind of shared database. I rang back on 02381010505 to sort out cancelling the yearly fee. When I asked about how to make a complaint, the person quickly said she'd send me a text about a £10 refund, which I’m supposed to pick up from a post office (bit of an odd way to refund money). They offer to stop your annual payments and send reminders when your MOT, insurance or tax is due. Thought it might be useful for anyone looking for that kinda service.

got my bill today and there’s an extra £10 tacked on for some bogus subscription from sure stream digital. rang Virgin and they said they can’t do anything to stop this company charging for texts, really disappointing. These jokers took £10 from me just for a reminder. I rang up my network, Vodafone, and they said they’d reach out to these lot and complain about this rip-off. Vodafone promised to sort my full refund and make a strong stand against it. They’ve also blocked, and then double blocked, premium texts from coming through to my phone now.

I never signed up for this service and I’m really annoyed that I’ve been billed for a pointless text message to my phone. This isn’t down to the provider but the DVLA letting these CROOKS get hold of our info. I’d recommend you get in touch with the DVLA, your local MP and OFCOM just like I’m going to. You can text STOP to 60076, email [email protected] or ring 02381010505 or 02030354848, but these sneaky lot don’t pick up no matter how many times you try. The Phone Paid authority is meant to help but they’re pretty useless 0300 30 300 20.

This happened to me too, for £10. I got in touch with 02381010505 and they set up a refund through the Post Office, but only for £9 because they said I’d used the service once. They told me I’d receive a text in a few days and to show it at any Post Office to claim the refund. I actually believe it’s genuine, as I’ve heard of something similar happening before. Just to say, I was polite throughout, not rude, and I reckon that might have helped a bit.

I'm with BT Mobile too, and just checked my bill only to see I’ve been charged £10 for a text from the number 700074074. I immediately got in touch with BT and told them seriously, who’d be daft enough to pay £10 just to get a text message, especially when you have no clue what it’s about, and it just sits on your phone until the bill arrives. About 7000740774 60076 I contacted trading standards myself and honestly, everyone should write to them (absolute scammers). Send your complaint recorded delivery and keep a copy of everything. Mention the consumer contract regulations from 2013 - they’re supposed to give you a pre-contract agreement in two forms, like email and text or letter, so it can't be changed later. Just having it on the website isn’t good enough because terms can be switched. They didn’t do this, so they’re breaking the contract. You can ask for your money back as you’re entitled to cancel within 14 days.

You have to put in your reg number and mobile, then you get a text from 60 076 and a surprise £10 charge on your phone bill from 700074074. I didn’t notice the small print saying it costs £10 for a year’s access before I hit send. If I’d seen that, I wouldn’t have gone ahead - thought it was a free service. No proper warning about the fee, just a continue button above the cost info. Really not pleased with this at all.
