So my mum just got this weird message from this number, asking her to reply Y or N about some transactions she supposedly made, with a bit about declining too. It felt kinda dodgy... We marked it as spam straight away. The text was pretty confusing and had a link in it, so please don’t click on it and definitely report it if you get something similar.

If your bank calls you out of the blue, don't just ignore it but don’t automatically trust it either. Fraudsters are clever and have faked the phone numbers of pretty much every bank and building society out there. There’s no way to be certain if the call's genuine or if it’s some con artists trying to steal from you. The best thing to do is hang up, make sure the line’s properly disconnected, and then ring your bank back on the number printed on your card or official statements. That’s the safest way to handle it every time!

If this really is Barclays, they definitely need to step up how they do their cold calls. Honestly, the whole vibe of the call just felt dodgy. But if it’s a scammer, I’ll say they’re pretty convincing compared to the usual ones.

Got a text supposedly from Barclays saying I needed to verify some charges on my credit card. They said they'd send another message and I'd just have to reply Y or N to confirm the transactions. The payments looked legit so I logged into my account to check if anything was off, but nothing was declined or suspicious. After that, I looked up the number 66218 to see if it was a scam, and luckily found out it was. So I blocked them and reported it straight away. Glad I didn’t just reply without checking.

Got a message from this number questioning a few of my recent transactions, asking if they were authorised. Two were legit but one payment to gengamer.net didn’t go through. On that same day, I had about 5-6 calls plus a couple of texts claiming to be from Barclays Fraud Department. The number they used was 0800 151 2170. I wasn’t convinced they were genuine, so I just ignored and deleted everything. I’d say be wary of this number. Has anyone else dealt with calls from this phone?
