65133 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 65133 👆 is reported as a widespread scam predominantly affecting Three mobile customers, involving unauthorised premium text message charges from a company called Playboxs. Many users have been billed around £3 fortnightly for a service they never subscribed to, often dating back months or over a year. Three is criticised for poor support and failing to prevent or block these charges, with some customers suspecting a data breach. While sending STOP to the shortcode reportedly costs and may not always work, contacting Playboxs via email or phone can lead to a post office refund code for reclaiming money. Switching providers or setting strict spend limits with your network may help prevent future losses. Victims are encouraged to report the issue to the Phone-paid Services Authority and seek collective action for resolution.

Setting a limit to your phone spending wont really fix this with 3, those pricey subscription services can still charge up to £40 every month. The only real fix is to switch to providers like 02, Vodafone or EE to avoid it. Check out the Facebook group '65133 three customers only' for more info.

Got my money back from the Post Office yesterday. I’d tried sorting it with Playboxs and ID Mobile but got nowhere, so I guess complaining to the PSA was what did the trick. Would suggest you give that a go, it really backs you up when dealing with Playboxs. Thing is, for every one person who stands up, there must be hundreds or even thousands just paying out without realising it’s a scam. That’s why the PSA and mobile firms need to step in and put a stop to this.

Finally got a reply after waiting a few days - (does anyone know where this number’s from? I usually don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t have saved). Thanks for getting in touch with Customer Support. We’ve processed your unsubscription as you asked. We need to speak with the actual phone user and will get back to you soon. Please be patient, as because of Covid, we have a very limited team working right now. Best wishes, Playboxs Support Team

AVOID getting in touch with 'PLAYBOX TECHNOLOGY' or anything like that!!! I got the wrong number after calling Three and ended up bothering a totally legit company. The real place to call is 'PLAYBOXS': [#][#]playboxs[###]/terms

Check out the Facebook group ‘65133 three customers only’ if you can, loads of useful tips there and a spot where we can team up to tackle these scammers. I ditched 3 just yesterday and moved my phone over to EE - honestly, the coverage is amazing, everywhere I go the signal and data speed are leagues ahead. Can’t believe I stayed with 3 for such a long time, such fools we were! :)

Had about 3 customers totalling around £60 since October 2019. Tried sorting it through 3's live chat but got nowhere, so I stopped my direct debit and I'm switching to another provider. I also emailed Playbox support but don’t hold out much hope for help. Honestly reckon everyone caught out by this scam should just ditch their contracts, cancel any payments set up, and find a new company.

Since March 2019, 65133 has been charging me £3 each time for premium texts I never signed up for. Up to now, they’ve taken £63 from me. I spoke to Three mobile and they gave me tips on how to stop it, and told me to email this firm called Playboxs, which looks like it’s just ripping off their users. Shouldn’t the mobile provider be doing more to stop this dodgy service straight away? Or are they making money from Playboxs too???

Since October 2019, I've been billed £57 for something I never actually used or signed up for. Just a few days ago, I got a text saying £3 was taken from my phone bill every two weeks. I looked up the company and saw loads of people were caught out like me. I emailed them and got a call back on Wednesday. Today, I got a Payback barcode from the Post Office and managed to claim my refund.

I’m with ID too. I complained to the Phonepaid Services Authority about these dodgy Playbox charges on my phone bill. Today I got a call from one of their so-called “agents” saying they’ll refund me next week through the Post Office. I’ll only believe it once the cash’s in my hands. Definitely worth reaching out to the PSA - they said they’ve had loads of complaints this week. Another thing: set a low limit on your add-on fees to help stop these rip-offs in their tracks.

The only good thing Three did was letting me cancel my contract early with no extra charges. I began with Voxi, which is under Vodaphone. Honestly, it was super simple. After almost ten years with Three, I’m done with them now.

Got a message from PlayBox saying to call 65133 and text STOP if I wanted to cancel their service. I got in touch with Three because I didn't even know I’d signed up for anything like that. Looking over my bills, I noticed nearly £70 taken out over the past year by direct debit. Three said it wasn’t their problem and told me to sort it out with this third party. Why didn’t Three warn me about this sooner?

Got a message from PlayBox saying to text STOP and call 65133 to cancel their service. I called Three to let them know I never agreed to sign up for PlayBox. Three replied saying it’s not their problem and I should sort it out with that third party myself. Why didn’t Three warn me about this sooner?

£60 was taken from me by 65133. Tried contacting 3 but they never helped, STOP didn’t work and no automated options either. Had to stop it by capping my bill to the contract limit. I emailed them for a refund but got zero reply. 3 are refusing to admit fault and are just cashing in on what feels like fraud. Really scared if there’s been some data breach with 3. It’s shocking how they profit off their customers’ problems. Hope someone like Martin Lewis shines a light on this so 3 loses their clientele. Not secure at all when they ask for DOB and postcodes every call.

Why is it that loads of us only got a text now saying we’ve just been signed up? What’s Three’s reason for being the only major network that doesn’t let us block these types of charges? Feels like Playboxs might be giving a cut for new signups, which could be pushing staff or partners to nick phone numbers in dodgy ways.

Just got a call from a really cheeky lady claiming to be from Playboxs. I admit I wasn’t exactly polite either, but anyway, she said I’d signed up for their service which explains the charges. Won’t bore you with all the details but after a bit of back and forth, she has agreed to give me a full refund. She said I should be getting a text soon with instructions to go to the post office for the refund. Let’s see if it actually happens!

Asking for 3 quid every two weeks!!

Hey, I got hold of Three and they were pretty helpful. You just have to text STOP to 65133 and also drop an email to [email protected][###] to get all the fees refunded. In your email, just put your name, your Three number, ask for the refund and they’ll reply to the same email, normally refunding within 5 working days. The only tricky bit for me is sending that STOP text.

Games.playboxs[###] keep taking £3 from me every couple weeks, no clue how they got my info. I’m on Three and all they did was put a limit on my payments and told me to watch out online, said I should reach out and stop the payments myself. I’m not calling 02080897926, and when I checked the site, it said "security error deceptive site ahead" so seems dodgy to me.

Just got a text saying I’m being billed for playbox but I never subscribed to anything like that. I replied with stop to the number already.

Just got the exact same text. I’m on ID - can anyone help me track down their complaints number or email? I really want to stop these £3 charges.

After about two hours, I was given this number Oxygen 8, saying they speak for Playboxs. If you want the texts to stop, try ringing 0333 313 7900. You can leave your number on the automated system (not sure if it actually does anything). In the end, they shut down my case when I brought up the Ombudsman, and they hinted they might cut off my service because of it. They said it was company policy. Maybe this info is useful.

I chose to email instead of ringing the number and got a response plus a phone call the next day. They were a bit abrupt on the phone but didn’t provide any proof that I had signed up for anything. They told me to request proof and say I never allowed anyone else to use my number, then they offered a refund via the post office. I’m still waiting on the refund but others say it usually comes through. People are calling them useless but honestly, it seems more like a scam from hackers using your number through some dodgy website.

Im with O2 but my number actually starts with a 3. I didnt sign up for anything or download any apps, no adverts clicked either. Out of nowhere I got a text saying thanks for subscribing and that theyll charge me £3 every two weeks. I followed the tips here and sent them an email, now they replied asking for my number so they can ring me. Weird!

Having the exact same problem! I’ve tried calling 3 a few times but no luck getting through. Sent an email to the support address on Playbox’s site, fingers crossed they reply. Feels like this is connected to that data leak they had last year, 3 really need to step up and say what’s going on. I’ll be ringing them today to see what they plan on doing. Managed to get the stop text to work last night but you’ve got to send it in uppercase, otherwise it doesn’t work.

This number 65133 has been charging me £51 since October 2019. I’ve been with them for three years. I haven't tried texting STOP cos I’ve read it might end up costing even more. Also, I’ve never come across those so-called post office refund codes. Do they actually ring you with a code for refunds? Sounds a bit dodgy to me, I’ve never encountered anything like that before.

This morning I received a text from playboys and reported it through 7726. I had a similar experience before with a different scammer and ended up losing money. My provider advised me to set my Add ons to zero, so in theory I shouldn't get charged for scam texts.

I just found out that this company has scammed me too. After checking my phone bills, I noticed they've been charging me for the past six months. I've emailed both Playboxs and 3, so I'll wait and see if they reply. Honestly, I'm quite frustrated about this. I've been with 3 for more than ten years, but I won’t be renewing my contract because it feels like the company is really going downhill.

Got the exact same message from playboxs saying they’ll charge me £3 every two weeks. Never heard of them or signed up, I don’t even use gaming apps. Tried emailing 65113 but it wouldn’t send, then messaged their listed email but no answer yet. Does anyone know how to stop this or block it from my phone?

Absolute nightmare - Proper scared that someone might nick my identity. Losing cash is bad enough, but what if my info gets used for something dodgier?

Looks like a dodgy, maybe even illegal scam. I’m a bloke in my 50s, not here for messing about on the phone. First, just block the number with a quick message. Then call 3 and tell them you’re thinking of cancelling your contract because of this. Finally, take it up with the ombudsman if needed. Properly awful behaviour.

Just got the exact same message as everyone else, and yeah, I’m on Three too. Either there’s been a data leak or someone at Three is pulling a dodgy stunt.

I left a comment before but since then I’ve sent an email to [email protected] asking them to cease the messages, give back the whole £63, and show proof that I actually signed up for whatever service this is. I also asked for details about how they’re connected to Three, cause it looks like only people on that network are getting these texts. Feels like there’s been a data leak or maybe Three’s involved somehow. Why are other networks not being hit?

I’ve lost about £60 since last October. I think someone here might be right, since many of us seem to be Three customers, maybe there’s been a data leak. Possibly a dodgy employee at Three selling our details to these scammers. It’d be helpful if Three’s website had the contact info for the Ombudsman or Ofcom. If a lot of us put in formal complaints, maybe they’d look into it? Ombudsman Services: Communications PO Box 730 Warrington WA4 6WU, phone 0330 440 1600, or Ofcom via their complaints page.

65133 Playbox texts, almost the same as others here, started getting them from Oct 2019, charged £3 for each monthly text. The mobile affected is with iD, been with them since 2015, but only spotted the charge today, though luckily 65133 messages began in October. I've just sent a complaint email to iD (finding their complaints email was tricky). The other 3 phones in our household, with different providers, haven’t had these 65133 Playbox £3 spam texts. I’m hesitant to reply “STOP” to that number, not sure if the Playbox company would respect that or just keep charging.

65133 - been getting billed every two weeks by these lot since Nov 2019. Im with Three like a lot of others having probs, can't be just chance. Just got a text from Playboxs today saying they’re charging me! Seriously, what the hell? I texted stop and got an automatic reply saying my service is cancelled now. Fingers crossed it actually sticks, they must have ripped us all off big time!!

Having the exact same issue as lots of others. Been getting charged for premium texts since October 2019. I’m using id mobile and I think they’re somehow connected with the Three network.

65133 Just like many others here, I discovered that Playboxs (not sure exactly who they are, maybe a branch of 3) have been charging me £3 every two weeks since October 2019. Tried reaching out to 3 on live chat but no luck. Expecting to spend ages on hold with 3’s support now.

Got texts from 65133 just like loads of others, also on the 3 network. After checking my bills, I noticed charges going back to Oct last year totalling about £57. This phone hardly gets used, maybe 200mb data a month and under an hour of calls, it’s not even used for any browsing. I’m guessing 3 either sold our info or there’s been some massive data leak.

I’ve been with Three for a while now. Just found out I’ve been getting charged for 65133 Playboxs, which is a total scam. I had no clue I was paying for this every month for a whole year! Tried texting “stop” like it said, but that hasn’t done anything to halt the charges. So far, no sign that these payments will be stopped. Honestly, if this isn’t sorted out within the next week, I’m definitely cancelling my contract.

Today, my other half got a text from some Playboxs saying we're being charged £3 every two weeks on our phone bill for a subscription. It said something about how to cancel, but I’m not sure what steps to actually take. Do you reckon we’ll be billed for it? Should we ring them, email or maybe just ignore it? I honestly haven't a clue... He’s been with Three for yonks and persuaded me to switch from O2 to Three as well, which I’m regretting now. Once our contracts finish, we’re definitely switching providers. What a pain!

Got a message from 65133 about a Playbox subscription today. I’ve never signed up for this, yet I’ve seen charges for it on my bill before. I’m planning to visit the Three shop in Trafford Centre tomorrow morning. Really annoyed and wondering why Three haven’t taken any action, even though they’re quick to bill me. They must see the complains about this scam and surely know what's happening.

Just got a text from 65133 about Playboxs, but I've never signed up for anything like that. I've been with 3 for a while too. When I looked through my bills, I've been getting hit with a £9 charge every month since September 2019 😡. Definitely ringing 3 customer service asap.

I got a random text from Playboxs, which was the first time they've messaged me. Turns out I’ve apparently been getting charged £3 every two weeks for something I had no clue about. I was told by Three to text STOP, but my message just won't go through. Now I’m trying to send an email to see if anyone even reads it.

Tried sending "STOP" but keeps saying the format is wrong! Spoke to a Three rep who admitted they actually BLOCKED the number before, so we never got those texts ‘cause of Three. Now they let one through and it’s alerted us. Honestly, Three needs to be held accountable for this.

Got hit by these Playboxs guys too. Took me ages to notice but apparently they’ve been billing me since October 2019. Got 19 texts charging me £57 altogether. I’ve just sent them an email at support@playboxs[###] asking nicely to quit the random texts and hoping for my money back. Fingers crossed!

Playboxs are a right scam, I’ve been trying to reclaim my money through 3 different phone providers. They send messages claiming you’ve subscribed, but really it’s them taking £6 a month without your proper consent. From what I can tell, it’s only Three that lets this happen to their mobile users, which is pretty shocking.

Just saw a message from something called playboxs about a subscription or something. I haven't clicked it cause it seems dodgy, like a classic scam right? I’m a bit lost on what to do next. I saw loads of people here are on Three, same as me, so should I ring Three or playbox to sort it out? Really stressing about this now. Also gonna finally look over my phone bills properly, haven’t done that in a long time 🙈

Got this exact same message as loads of other people, but I never signed up for any of it. Had a look at my phone bill and there’s no extra charges from these lot. I’ve sent them an email asking them to take me off their list. I’m not gonna text STOP or anything like that to their number. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend anyone do that. If you haven’t agreed to anything, there’s no need to have to opt out. Better off ringing Three to sort it out.

65133 So my missus got a text from Playbox on her phone. Seems they’ve been withdrawing money for ages. I tried texting stop but it never went through. Sent the info to 7266, no reply. Feels like Three’s system has a glitch or got hacked. Probably not the first time either. I’ll update once I figure out how to get the cash back and show up Three for letting this scam happen.

Like lots of others here, I’m with THREE and have been paying £60 since October 2019. They told me to text STOP, but I’m not gonna risk it - no idea what might get activated. They said I should call or email them instead. They reckon I clicked something online but, honestly, it sounds like the same story everyone else is sharing, happening all at once. THREE really ought to be aware of what’s happening. Didn’t they have a data breach back in October 2019? Just saying, looks fishy to me.
