Many recipients note the calls appear vexatious, with repeated attempts even after blocking, and some report the number shown is inaccurate or disconnected when called back. 11 yearsAt 10:20 AM on 21 April 2015, I received a fraudulent phone call from someone pretending to be from the IRS, threatening me with a lawsuit. This kind of behaviour is illegal and could be classified as criminal activity.IRS11 yearsI received a phone call this morning, on Monday the 20th of April, with a similar scam regarding the IRS. They claimed that the IRS is after me and instructed me to call a certain number. Familiar with this kind of fraud from previous encounters, I promptly ended the call. Interestingly, they had contacted me a couple of months ago as well, but that time it was from Washington while today's call originated from Illinois. The scammers consist of two individuals; one man with a strong accent and a woman who pretends to be from the Sheriff's office. The man threatened that there is a warrant for my arrest unless I comply with their instructions. It's quite absurd to think that the IRS actually operates in such a way. What surprises me even more is that when you block their number, they call again right away under an unknown caller ID, almost as if they expect you to answer!IRSWashingtonIllinois11 yearsI recently received a call from someone claiming to be the IRS. However, I chose not to answer and they left a message, stating that they were filing a lawsuit against me. They requested that I return their call at a different number and provide them with the case number they left. Honestly, I highly doubt that the IRS would reach out through a phone call; I would expect them to send a certified letter instead.
