On 19th June 2025, I got another text from 60249 asking me to reply 'Yes' so they could ring me about the Barclaycard app. This is the second time this month I've heard from this number. I've marked it as a scam. If Barclaycard really wanted to get in touch, I’d think they’d do it in a more proper way, not just sending a random text telling me to say 'Yes'. I honestly don’t know what I'd be agreeing to, probably just more spam texts.

Don't ever just ignore calls from your bank if they’re unexpected. Always ring your bank back using the number printed on your card. Banks use loads of different numbers to get in touch, so it’s hard to know for sure if it’s a legit call about your account or just some scammer trying to steal from you. Scammers sometimes put fake red warnings about real bank numbers on here to trick people into blocking them or reporting to ‘7726’ - which then flags those calls as scams everywhere on your phone network.

Got a text today at about 12:56, claiming to be from Barclays. It said something like, "We hope the flooding in Scotland hasn’t caused you any trouble. If you need help with your account, cards, or cash, we're here for you. Just reply 'Yes' if you'd like a call back. Otherwise, no need to do anything. Cheers, Barclays Team." Not sure how they even got my number though. I've only shared it a few times recently - once at a couple of restaurants for Track and Trace, and of course Amazon’s got it for deliveries. just look at this message - its obviously a scam. real barclays alerts always show the transaction info and only ask you to answer with a y or n. they never ask for your personal info or security details, so dont ever reply if they ask for that. also, replying to texts in the uk is free, or only costs a normal text if from abroad. the example below is actually from a premium rate number! crazy!
