Finally found a way to deal with this! I was getting loads of messages from Teletext. They say you should text "Stop" to 60077 to opt out. DON’T fall for it! If you do, you’re just lining their pockets and the messages might not even stop. What worked for me was, when you get the spam text, open it, hit the menu (could be the three dots in the corner), go to "Details", then choose "Block and report spam" or something similar. That did the trick for me!

60077 took £4.50 from me for a single text. Tried ringing them to sort a refund, fingers crossed. Got a free message saying all comps on that number are cancelled and they won’t send more texts. If you wanna ask anything, ring their customer services on 03301340183.

Absolutely infuriating! I've been bombarded with unsolicited text messages that have drained my wallet by £3.75 each (that's a whopping £4.50 once VAT is tacked on). If you've fallen victim to these dishonest charlatans like I have, I urge you to take action and inform Trading Standards! The more of us who speak up, the better chance we have of shutting these rogues down for good. I've just got off the line with them, reporting this scam. Let's join forces and put an end to this nonsense!

You won’t believe this! The DVLA rang me from this number to remind me my car tax was due. They charged me £10 just for that! I called Three and the woman there actually rang the company while I was still on the line, then put me through to them. The person from the company explained everything, offered to block the service, and said they’d send me a text so I could claim a refund from the Post Office. Haven’t got the text yet, but it’s only been like 10 minutes since I hung up. Fingers crossed.

I’ve been billed £150 due to this dodgy business, and I was meant to respond within a mere 15 seconds! How was I supposed to manage that? The message came through while I was juggling the school run, and despite my attempts, they’re still refusing to refund me. It's utterly frustrating!

I fell into this trap rather unwittingly. I tapped something on my iPad, and before I knew it, I was hit with charges for a service I never intended to sign up for. Once I clocked what was happening, I shot off a message to cancel, but lo and behold, I got yet another text straight after - despite being assured there'd be no further messages. It’s baffling how these practices are allowed to continue. They really ought to be put to an end!

Virgin have charged me for loads of texts I never sent or even knew about. I’ve paid my usual bills to Virgin, but I’m not handing over money to these scammers. I’ve emailed them saying I won’t be paying these dodgy charges. Still, Virgin haven’t sorted out my service yet. I reckon Virgin must be in on this scam somehow. I’ve also cancelled my direct debit with them. Now I’m just waiting to see what these con artists will do next.

I got texts from numbers 60 077 and 61 991 saying Tesco was inviting me to join a competition to win £500. I thought it was legit Tesco so I replied to the question. Turns out I’ve been charged £4.50 each week for the last month without noticing until my bill showed up. Tesco’s my phone provider so I contacted them - they’ve blocked the numbers now but refuse to give me any refund even though they used Tesco’s name. Phonepayplus is a nightmare to deal with when trying to complain. This is a proper scam and really needs to be shut down by law.

I got a text from 60077 saying: “FreeMsg Reminder: You’re signed up to the PrizeHook Gift Cards competition & £250k Draw costing £4.50 each week until you text STOP to 60077. Need help? 03301340183.” When I checked my phone credit, £4.50 had been taken. I’d only just topped up yesterday, so it was easy to spot the difference. I called Tesco Mobile on 0345 301 4455 and after going through all the automated options, I finally talked to someone who said they couldn’t help and told me to ring the number mentioned in the scam message.

I got this after visiting the Tesco website and just like everyone else, I fell for it. I called them but the messages keep arriving. I reported it to the Telephone Preference Service but no luck so far. Don’t answer their texts or they’ll charge you another £4.50. There really should be some laws to put a stop to these scammers.

I got caught out by this scam too - it was a supposed deal on Facebook for a Sainsbury's gift card. I figured I was careful, but since I’m a regular Sainsbury's shopper, I assumed it was legit. Then I spotted a £4.50 charge for a subscription and was lucky enough to find out how to cancel it, with a confirmation too. But I also saw they charged me 12p just for cancelling! Thought it was all sorted until today, when I received another text about a prize offer, and now I’m worried they might have taken another £4.50. Is there any way to report this company?

I recently got a bill from my provider, Three, asking for £45 for a period of three months, linked to the number 60077. Really smooth looking site pretending to be Tesco. It’s not Tesco at all and has no connection with them. I’ve spoken to Tesco, and they’re working on getting it taken down. It’s a pricey scam. I’m currently sorting out making sure I’ve unsubscribed. Prizehook is definitely a prize scam.

So I took part in an online contest to try and win an iPhone, bit daft I know, and now I'm getting loads of texts on my phone. I replied to a number, 60077, with "STOP" and they sent back a message saying I've been taken off the list. Fingers crossed that actually sorts it, because I don't want any charges. Just send an email saying STOP, STOP ALL along with your phone number to [email protected][###], as these are the ones who actually take the money, and the charges stop straight away. Once again I got caught up with these calls. I’ve texted ‘stop’ and even phoned 03301340183 to ask them to stop contacting me. My mobile company, which I’ve used for more than 20 years, wasn’t much help apart from telling me to text stop and giving me that number. I also blocked the number on my iPhone but that doesn't seem to stop the calls either. I honestly think providers ought to do more to help with this. Curious to see some folks getting refunds while others don’t.

Tesco, my mobile provider, has refused to give my money back even though they admit they know this is a scam. The only thing they agreed to do was block any more texts from these scammers, fingers crossed that stops it. Really let down by Tesco, I reckon if they wanted to, they could stop this messing about with their customers. The text number Prize Hook use is 60077.

This is total scam!!! I was under the impression, just like most folks, that I was dealing with Tesco. Sending "stop" doesnt work at all!! This is criminal, so why do the phone companies and police just let it go on?

I recently found myself in quite the pickle when I received a rather dubious message from an anonymous source regarding a TESCO survey. Thinking I’d give it a go, I spent a fair bit of time filling it out. However, shortly after, my inbox was bombarded with messages pushing me to join some competition. Not one for such nonsense, I simply kept deleting them. To my great astonishment, my phone bill for the next few months skyrocketed! Naturally, I reached out to my provider who informed me that I’d been charged for incoming messages from a premium number. In the end, I wrote a letter to my provider, who were quite understanding. They advised me to block those messages instead of just deleting them and even contacted the company responsible for the spam, managing to recover the money that had been illicitly taken from me. What a right kerfuffle!

Kept saying hello over and over, guess they finally got it and hung up, then I went ahead and blocked the number.

I entered what I thought was a Facebook competition with this firm claiming to be Tesco! Since then, I’ve had 3 messages from them, one even said I signed up for a competition charging me £4.50 a week! I definitely never agreed to anything like that! I contacted my mobile provider and they refunded all the money they had taken and also stopped me from receiving any more premium texts! This is such a con, these people shouldn’t be allowed to carry on doing this!

I've never provided any details, yet I've been charged five times for a number I’ve already blocked. Sounds like a right con, doesn’t it? I'm off to find a more trustworthy provider, farewell O2!

Just got stung for £4.50 from what looks like an Asda scam by prizehook. I texted stop and got a reply saying it’s been cancelled. We’ll see I guess, might have to switch my number. Virgin weren’t any help, said they can’t block calls from third party numbers. It came from Freemsg 60077.

I’ve been billed £4.50 for a competition I never signed up for, and despite my efforts to delete the messages every single time they pop up, the charges keep coming! It’s incredibly frustrating!

I'm a stressed caregiver (my partner is really unwell) and i’m sick of these texts! I replied STOP but got charged £4.50 anyway, and the messages keep arriving. I don’t have much time to go through all my bills, but today i got 2 messages so i looked at my mobile bill and found out i’ve been charged £4.50 every week. I'm so annoyed!! I just spoke to my provider who said they will block the number, but it’ll take 24 hours to kick in! Fingers crossed it works!!!

I filled out an online form that said it was for a TESCO prize. Soon after, I started getting messages from prize hook[###]. They wanted to charge me £4.50 every week. There was an option to text STOP to 60077, but when I tried, my phone warned me it would cost extra on top of my monthly plan. I didn’t send the text but looked up ‘prizehook’ online and found this site [#]prizehook[###]/contact_us.php where you can cancel the messages. I haven’t checked if they’ve already taken money for any texts but I’m about to call my mobile provider to block this number.

Im normally pretty cautious about stuff like this, but I got caught out this time. Saw my phone bill was kinda higher than usual. Turned out it was prizehook. I rang my network and they’ve stopped any more texts coming through. Would tell anyone else to do this too. Definitely learnt my lesson the hard way.

Simplest way to stop these messages is head over to prizehook[###]/contact_us.php, pop in your phone number and the shortcode (the number they text from) - nothing else is needed - and you'll quickly get a message confirming everything’s been cancelled. I’d also suggest blocking the number on your phone or through your network provider just to be safe.

I believed I was signing up for a Tesco competition, but then I got a text saying I was enrolled in a weekly draw costing £4.50 each week. It said to type STOP TO 60077 to cancel. I tried sending that twice but both messages failed. I looked up number 60077 online and came across this forum. Totally agree, these folks are dishonest and should be ashamed for tricking people like this. I ended up using the prize hook site to unsubscribe and received a message confirming it was done. We'll see if it actually works. Jc

I was told I could win a £250 tesco voucher but I pressed no, that’s what’s annoying me. I reckon if I text STOP to that 600 number, it’ll charge me £4.50 and probs not even stop the messages! Can anyone let me know where it’s coming from and who’s behind it please?

I've been receiving monthly charges on my daughter's mobile for the past half a year. I'm planning to get in touch with the mobile provider soon to sort this mess out and hopefully put an end to it.

I had no idea a subscription was necessary; it only popped up after I'd wrapped up the questions. By that point, it was far too late. I've ended up getting about half a dozen texts from them in just the last hour!

I continue to see charges of £4.50 appearing on my mobile bill, and it seems there are at least two of these transactions. I never consented to any terms or agreed to these payments, so I'm quite perplexed as to why this is happening.

Got a call from Tesco asking me to do a survey, so I did since I shop there and also have a Tesco PAYG phone. But as soon as I finished, PrizeHook charged me £7.50 from my balance! I checked online and filed a complaint with PrizeHook. This is a total con, trying to make folks believe it's Tesco calling. Such a bad scam.

Much like the numerous disgruntled individuals who've found themselves in the same predicament, I've received a couple of dubious charges for £4.50 each for text messages that I neither sought after nor consented to. This feels like nothing short of blatant theft. It seems clear to me that the telecom providers facilitating these text numbers are not only turning a blind eye but are also inadvertently supporting these unscrupulous characters in their deceitful activities. It's rather shocking, really.

Got a message from 60077 and got charged just for getting it. It's been a nightmare trying to put a stop to it, and looks like it might be linked to Tesco somehow? Told my network about it, fingers crossed they’ll sort it out and block it for me.

They charged me twice £3.75 but I never entered any contests or anything!!! They said they'll refund me and block the number but I haven't sent STOP yet and honestly don’t wanna get charged again. I’ll call them later. Only spotted it because my phone bill was more than normal. I just ignored their messages thinking it was spam!!! But it actually costs money to get their texts!!! Seriously, these lot need to be shut down.

I'm in the same boat... just added some credit to my account, and it's like they've swiped nearly £4 out of it. Received a message from them as well. Any tips on how I can shake them off?

Just got my phone bill and saw that 60077 has been charging me 75p every month. What’s that about? How do I stop it? I don’t remember getting any messages from them, but I usually just delete texts from numbers I don’t know.

Ended up getting scammed and lost £18 before I found out who was taking the cash. I’m definitely going to report it to trading standards as I never actually messaged this number. They must’ve grabbed my details from a Tesco competition I entered. Just a heads up, be careful!

I've been fleeced for four payments every Tuesday at precisely 7:34 in the evening! I never asked for these texts, nor did I sign up for any competitions. O2 advised me to shoot a STOP message, which did the trick. However, they refused to refund my money, insisting I must have subscribed, which is absolute nonsense - I would never hand over my number willingly. It's basically a legalised way of robbing people, and it seems O2 benefits from it too. That's it for me and O2!

Same here, I thought I was signing up for a Tesco quiz but ended up in some PrizeHook thing instead. I texted STOP straight away but they still keep sending me messages even a week later. I’m gonna call their Customer Services tomorrow, really hope it stops then. It's starting to stress me out.

I’ve had a bit of a nuisance dealing with 02 recently. Rather than issuing me a refund, they simply provided me with the number of the so-called 'company' I was supposed to contact. After navigating through their automated system, I managed to cancel my subscription with that 'competition', yet they insist I entered it properly, which apparently means I’m not eligible for any kind of refund. Honestly, I think it would be fair for 02 to drop those charges. It's curious that they choose to do this on occasion but not consistently - what’s the reasoning behind that?

Just got my 02 bill and saw they charged me for texts I supposedly sent and received. I contacted 02 to block the number, but they told me I needed to text STOP to 60077 first. I did that and got an instant response, which was meant to be free, saying all competition entries linked to that shortcode are cancelled now. I'm not sure if that applies to everyone or just me, or if they've switched to a new shortcode. Luckily, 02 refunded the charges and have been really supportive throughout.

None of us signed up for this mess, so honestly, the phone companies should be held responsible since they're allowing it to happen. If a scammer rings asking for cash, you’d tell them straight off to buzz off, so the phone companies must be well aware of this but just let it slide.

Got two texts charged £3.75 each from LOT Polish airlines, number 60077, saying TO RECEIVE!! in Poland. But I was definitely in England during those billing dates. I did fly from Warsaw to Gdansk and back in Poland between those bills, but never got any messages from the airline itself, only dealt with them at the airport. Also, I don’t speak a word of Polish, so this feels really fishy.

I recently got in touch with Virgin Media regarding some unexpected charges on my mobile bill, and they provided a thorough breakdown of the fees. It turns out that I was being charged £4.50 for each text coming from 60077, which I had no clue about. I hadn't subscribed to any competitions or anything similar, so this came as a surprise. I'm keen to know what my rights are when it comes to seeking a refund from the company associated with 60077. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Lorraine.

I got in touch with the CAB and through them contacted Trading Standards about this. I’ve also asked my mobile provider to block texts from third parties. I’d recommend everyone does the same, maybe if enough folks complain to Trading Standards something will finally be done. The website [#]prizehook[###]/ doesn’t show any physical address which, as far as I know, is illegal.
