I also contacted Surestream / Vehicleinformation[###], and just got a 'free text' saying they will refund through the Post Office. Im not really convinced tho. This number looks like it grabs info from the DVLA site and then sends a text (mine came just before midnight on New Year's Eve) that charges you £8 plus VAT, so £10 added to your bill! Vodafone were really helpful - they blocked the number and gave me a refund straight away. I honestly think the DVLA should take action here - it’s basically stealing your details and billing you without any heads up. I’d say report it to your network straight away. Like others have said, all the info is free from the DVLA but I reckon that’s where these scammers are pulling it from, so watch out!

Avoid ringing any number starting with 0238 because it's a premium line. They promised to sort out a refund immediately through the Post Office. www.vehicleinformation.uk - I signed up to check the MOT status of a car I was buying, not realising it would cost me £10. Honestly, I missed the part where it said there’s a monthly fee. To be fair, the website does mention the £10 charge but it’s easy to overlook. I wouldn’t suggest anyone use them since you can get the same info for free from the .Gov.uk site. I contacted my mobile network (I’m with Three), and they told me to text "STOP" to the number and they refunded the £10 back to me.

This definitely looks like a scam, their website is built to look a lot like the DVLA’s, and the initial contact info listed is actually the DVLA's own. I reported them to Action Fraud, but apparently because they hide some tiny little legal notice somewhere on the site, they’re able to dodge any real trouble. I’m trying to get my money back now, but not holding my breath!

This number totally scammed me! I got hit with a charge of £8.33 for a message saying my car tax payment was due. The thing is, I never agreed to any service like that. Actually, my car tax is exempt since it’s a low emission vehicle. I’m really puzzled how these scammers get hold of such details - maybe they hack info from the DVLA during online renewals? And then, where on earth do they find the phone numbers to send these dodgy texts? It’s worrying how this data gets leaked.

Got a call from 08081785349 about some phone stream thing, told me to ring the post office for a refund code. Sounds dodgy to me. I’ve reported it as a scam to my phone company. Everyone should complaining to the PSA at 03003030020, this kind of rubbish has got to end. They’re just making a fortune because we don’t say anything.

Just call 08081785349 to cancel and claim your refund with a code you pick up from the post office. Super simple, no need to give out any more personal info. Make sure you report it as a scam to your phone company too. Keep ringing PSA with complaints on 03003030020. Don’t let these lot get away scott-free, they’re making a fortune because nobody does anything about it!

Just got my phone bill and noticed an odd £10 charge!! I got a text that somehow charged me that fee and it even showed how long I was supposedly on a call! I never actually spoke with anyone though! Luckily, 3 took the £10 off my following bill. The firm behind the number is IMI mobile. The text came from number 60076. If you wanna ring them, their number is 02381010505. Hopefully this info helps anyone dealing with the same thing.

Got a text sayin REMINDER FROM MOT, had a quick check and ended up bein charged £10. Called Vodafone, they told me they could stop any more texts like this. Then i phoned 02381010505, turned out to be some garage, so i just hung up thought it was another scam. Really annoyed about this, can't afford to keep feeding these scammers. Last month, my phone bill had a weird charge of about £8.33 to a number 60076. I called o2 to ask and they said it was some kind of premium rate number. I even sent 'stop' to that number but it didn’t stop the charges. I was just trying to do a vehicle check online and thought it was from the DVLA, so I entered my car registration. Didn’t think twice until I got my bill. Just a heads up, be really cautious when you use these online services cause some of them pop right at the top in searches but end up costing you a fortune.

I can't believe I got caught out recently, not sure how it happened. Vodafone told me this sort of thing is a legit service, like those quiz calls and so on. I got an MOT reminder message. I don't mind paying £10 for a service if it's clear, but if people aren't warned properly, it feels like a scam. I reckon I've been swindled! Vodafone do let you block all third-party calls and provide the company name and number. The one I got was from Surestreamdigital.com, number 02381010505, but the actual scam call was from a 60076 shortcode (might differ for others). I found their contact as [email protected] and I'll be reaching out for a refund. If that doesn't work, I'll report it to Trading Standards. We really have to put a stop to these dodgy schemes before more people fall victim.

At first, I honestly believed it was the genuine DVLA message, but luckily, I realised the truth just in time. I sent the word STOP to 60076, though I wasn't really convinced it'd do anything. Then I called O2, and they managed to lock down my phone so nobody can take money from me by just using my mobile number. Sure, it means I can’t donate to charities by texting like before, but honestly, it makes me feel a lot safer.

I got ripped off for £10 by this company and ended up reporting them to the Phone-paid Services Authority. Turns out, Surestream Digital Ltd broke the rules big time. Had the exact same thing happen. Clicked a link on the DVLA site to check my car’s details and didn’t see anywhere it mentioned a £10 fee (£8.33 plus VAT) for a year’s subscription. Only spotted it when my phone bill arrived. Rang the company about it a month later and they said they’d refund me but can’t do it through the mobile account, they’re sending it as a postal refund we need to pick up from the post office. Bit odd if you ask me. Also, they’re only refunding £8 so we’ll see what turns up in the end.
