I got a call from this number the other day. When I picked up, there was a recorded message asking if I was a certain person, and it even used my full name. It told me to press 1 if it was me, or 2 if it wasn’t. I pressed 2 and the call ended straight away. I’m definitely adding this number to my block list.

So this number called me saying to press 1 to talk to someone or 2 if not interested. When I called back, it just said their office was getting loads of calls or something like that. The freaky thing is they actually had my name and even spelled it out in the robo call. Lately, living in Toronto, Canada, I get calls almost daily from numbers like this. Seems like scammers think Canadians are easy to bother all the time. And honestly, the cops here are useless - they’re just sitting back, taking loads of money for “compensation” but never actually doing anything about it. It feels like crime runs the show here now, and regular folks are just left paying taxes while these dumb officials collect their pay and ignore all this. Welcome to Canada in 2023, the land of letting crooks get on with it.

I’ve been getting loads of calls from some dodgy debt collectors lately, and honestly, I’m done with it. They’re just scammers trying to rip people off. I’m blocking them for good.

Debt collection firm - robotic calls gathering your data. Chances are you don’t actually owe anything, but the people behind this number want to collect your personal details. Just a quick chat with them and they’re jotting down info about you.

- Is this phone in use? (you answering confirms that)
- Your name? (usually the first thing they ask)
- Married or single, do you rent or own... (small talk that helps them build a profile)

Even if you say something like "I’ve paid off my car, I don’t owe anything," you’ve still let them know you own a vehicle. That info could be useful to them if you ever end up with debt.

My other half got a call from this number but the person wouldn’t say who they were. He ended the call and tried ringing back but it just played music. I tried calling it from my phone and it did the same thing, straight to music. On my phone it actually warned me it might be a fraud. Suddenly the music cut out and I shouted down the phone, “This is a scam!”

I get like 3 calls every day on my mobile. Usually it’s just one voicemail with some weird robot voice and a different number. I tried ringing back once and ended up waking this bloke who barely spoke any English. He was struggling to tell me the company name, which when I looked it up, had a bunch of other numbers connected to it. Ended the call pretty quick.

I just started this new job and havent given my work number out to anyone, yet I keep getting calls from some company called Veritas. They tell me about a "letter" they supposedly sent last week (which I never got) and try to offer something. I looked the company up, seems like a debt collector, but from what I see it’s probably just a scam. Feels dodgy for sure.

Since October, this number 437-292-2430 keeps ringing me up, often more than once a day. I've tried blocking it, but the calls still come through and I can see them on my phone. It’s become so annoying that I’m seriously considering changing my number. Really wish these calls would just quit!

I got a letter from these lot saying I’d missed payments on a credit card, which is completely wrong. After that, they kept ringing me a couple of times daily, always saying "this deal won’t last". They tried to convince me they could clear my credit card debt for just over £1500 - totally unbelievable! I ended up ringing my credit card provider, and they got really worried and opened a fraud report. It’s worrying how this firm even knew what my credit limit was! Proper dodgy if you ask me.

I’m with the original commenter on this one. I’m shelling out almost 200 quid every month just to have my phone bombarded with robo calls. Seriously, there’s gotta be a better way to stop these annoying pesters from ringing all the time.

The number shows up as Veritas but they never bother leaving a voicemail. They call pretty much daily, sometimes ringing me up twice a day. I've ended up blocking them now.
