So my dad, who’s 82, actually phoned the number back and they told him he’d won $900,000 and that he needed to travel to New York to collect the prize. He ended up giving them his date of birth and driving licence details. I was furious when he told me and gave him a proper telling off. The guy on the call said his name was Mike Sherman from [email protected] in New York. He also mentioned that if there were any visa difficulties, he should contact Lynch Associates in London at 5 High St, Wimbledon Village, London SW19 5DX, phone 02032891555. As soon as my dad rang me, I told him straight away it was a con. I’ve reported it now. I also called the DVLA who confirmed there’s no way anyone could get hold of a copy of his driving licence easily because of their strict rules on issuing new licences.
