Later, I dialled back a different number he’d given me, 347-391-1827 ext. 0786, and the caller ID showed a bloke called John Douglas. He tried to convince me to go to Walmart and buy some sort of money cards worth over a grand, claiming I’d be eligible for this £7,000+ grant. He even shared three different PINs or something like that. At that point, I told him a proper treasury official wouldn’t act like this and basically called him out for trying to scam me. He then just hung up.
