I received a phone call today from someone named Kevin Brown. He is requesting that I go to Walgreens and buy an iTunes card worth £200. I find this request quite foolish. He assured me that it's not a scam. The call was made on October 14th, 2016, and he is contacting me from the same number.

Received a call earlier from an unfamiliar caller. A gentleman informed me about a generous federal government grant amounting to £7,800. He assured me that he could facilitate the process by providing a money order, conveniently available for collection at Walmart. Before proceeding, he requested confirmation of my name and inquired about the closest Walmart location in relation to my vicinity. Intriguingly, he also sought to know my age. As the conversation progressed, he gave me a phone number to contact, accompanied by a corresponding code. However, when I dialed the number, it consistently indicated that it was not accessible. It is crucial to exercise caution as this appears to be a fraudulent scheme!

If a large number of people are accusing it of being a scam, then it certainly doesn't appear to be a legitimate venture. If it were indeed authentic, wouldn't there have been some form of advertising about it? Furthermore, the person claimed to be calling from Washington, but the telephone number belonged to Syracuse, New York. They didn't request any personal information from me; instead, they insisted that I make payment through a money order. Although the offer was tempting, I couldn't ignore my suspicions. What set me apart from others was that they claimed I had been chosen for $8,900. Perhaps I should have gone along with it until they started asking for information I wasn't comfortable sharing (not that it mattered since they probably already had everything). But why should I allow myself to be deceived and disappointed? The entirety of the situation was perplexing.

Do not fall for it, they are simply fools. Genuine money is not given away freely to make phone calls. Hurry up; you only have 15 minutes. This is all nonsense and a scam, so beware of such fraudulent activities.

I had a similar experience where someone told me to go to Walmart or CVS and load $250 onto an iTunes gift card. They said that once I did that, I could collect my $7,800 and also get my $250 back. I expressed my concern, thinking it might be a scam because that's a significant amount of money to just throw away. The person got upset and said, "Ma'am, this isn't a scam. If you want, I can remove you from the calling list." I replied politely, "Sir, please don't be so rude. People are bound to have questions. Just relax."

The individual claimed to be representing the United States Department of the Treasury and informed me that I am entitled to claim a sum of £7800.
