Whenever I get a call from a number I dont know, I just ask outright what its regarding and who they’re trying to reach. I never share any personal details and always tell them I dont take calls from random or sales numbers. If they start being rude, I say I’m recording the call and that they’ll be reported. Been doing that for a while now and honestly, it usually stops them ringing back. Works well for me!

They keep calling over and over but there’s never any sound when I pick up.

No idea who it was, they just said hi and then quickly cut the call.

Got a call from some dodgy Indian call centre pretending to be BT. Honestly, feels really sorry for them, must be struggling if this is how they make money. Proper annoying ringing up just to scam a few cheap rupees.
